NRB
I love this bit: "Registered User Age: 17 Location: Perth Car(s): R32 GTST Join Date: May 2003" Do you get licenses younger in WA, or were you out driving without a license and doing a doughnut? ferni
I think its only Melbourne that you have to be 18 to get your license? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/38081-wtf-alarm-goes-off-when-breaking-traction/#findComment-769689 Share on other sites

memphis
First off: stupid idea doing burnouts not under controlled circumstances, its a good way to lose your licence in no time. And not a very top way to get respect from fellow skyline drivers. BUT: It may have something to do with the alarm on the wheels, some alarms go off when the car gets to a certain angle, or when the wheel is lifted off the ground, to stop people nicking your rims. Maybe the car had a bit of bodyroll when you where fanging it in circles. ferni
but if the alarm is disabled it shouldn't be going off at all - even if it is being towed/lifted/tilted Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/38081-wtf-alarm-goes-off-when-breaking-traction/#findComment-769821 Share on other sites
Jolinator
was under controlled conditions on a private road pretty much, yeh the alarm should be disabled shouldnt it? it was hardly a donut, more a 180 turn with wheelspin before alarm went off and i stoped, im thinking maybe a sonic sensor, but how could that be activated when the alarm is disabled Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/38081-wtf-alarm-goes-off-when-breaking-traction/#findComment-770176 Share on other sites
AutoTrust
If you have a battery back up siren and your battery is loose or there is a short the siren could sound under these circumstances. I have seen the same sort of problem when the cars battery has lifted under hard cornering and touched the bonnet (or parcel shelf) and resulted in the siren sounding and misfiring. the alarm should not sound the siren if the system is disarmed. Burnouts are bad hmmkay!! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/38081-wtf-alarm-goes-off-when-breaking-traction/#findComment-770188 Share on other sites
Jolinator
tell me about it, the battery is firmly secured, no shorts that i can find, i did notice that when i turned my lights on and off the alarm siren changed pitch and sounded like it was about to stop and then when i played with the lights again, it went up to full vol. was hardly a burnout, :bond: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/38081-wtf-alarm-goes-off-when-breaking-traction/#findComment-770195 Share on other sites
memphis
Sorry to be so harsh, but its a sore point for me, as Ive had my skyline since i was 17, and I got zero respect from anyone due to other people on the road being tools. Did you get the alarm installed or whas it already in the car? has it ever done it since.? My alarm occasionally goes off for no damn reason, when its locked in the garage. Could have just been one of those things to file under the 'WTF?' pile. AutoTrust
Mabe the siren itself is dodgy, give it a whack with a screwdriver, sirens fail all the time even top brands. Jolinator
Memphis i hear you, im not out doing reckless shit, i drive sensibly, as i want 2 keep my self and my car in one peice. was a once off thing on a private road the alarm was in the car when i got it alarm hasnt given me any other problems since that. went over the car today and came up with the following things. under the car midway there is what looks like a tiny peice of steel mesh, like a braided wire, that has frayed, there is another wire next 2 the horns which i think is was for different horn ,however thats not shorting, and then i found this cable in my left front wheelarch sitting next 2 my fmic piping, brown 2 pin plug with loom tube on it, im currently removing the carbon canister so i can get at , ill see what happens, cheers for all the replys Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/38081-wtf-alarm-goes-off-when-breaking-traction/#findComment-771136 Share on other sites
