Now im keen on buying this R32 GTR http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/380720-fs-freshly-rebuilt-r32-gtr/ and i notice that it was a previous resident to SA. Just wondering if anyone has been in or seen this car before and if you could tell me a little about it.

I've offered to swap him for my R34 GTT http://www.carsales....id=1331D2BCF9DF

What do you think?

Unfortunately i still haven't had the pleasure in driving an R32 Gtr so i still don't know what it would be like compared to the 34 as far as comfort and handling.

Edited by Leeman

all depends on how its setup comfort and handling should be on par with a Japanese car of the time

the 34 will have a couple of different mod cons the 32 still has climate control how ever a little older but its the true Godzilla, the one we revere and all love

you may have to negotiate a small amount of cash his way but not really sure if at all or how negotiable he will be, i guess something you will find out in due course

He did ask for a small amount of cash his way Steve. So do you think it would be a fair deal? Really not sure mainly because i haven't been for a ride in a 32 gtr.

Does anyone else know of this car?

Hi Lee, if its the SNIPER car then I took those photos. It was owned by shane (RBWARE) previously then sold to a young guy named Matt. He sold it only about 4 months ago. Its had two engine builds. Wheels were ordered specially from Crystal auto in Japan. Custom leather trim done in Lonsdale etc...

Its also my old 32 in the background of the first pic. Paint si fading in a few spots and there is a little rust in the rear quarter round the windows but the engine work is definitely fresh.

I reckon it was sold for less than he is asking previously. Personally I'd say closer to 20k is realistic value. MY opinion of course.

Thanks heaps for the helpful info guys!

Cheers Martin, shane (RBWARE) just pm'ed me about the car. He agrees with you.

I think I'll be better off selling my 34 and not doing the swap. Was kind of hoping on something a little cheaper.

The guy selling the car said that he can put more dollars on it because its worth more than what it sold for previously.

Was very tempting and im now very thankful for the help.

Not sure why he wanted to sell it so quick, buyer beware?

He said he didn't want to put highway km on the 32, but what about swapping it to your GTT ???

..if you have the patience, sell your car first

money in hand = you'll have a lot more choices.

ive seen it, sat in it and my mate has been in it,

the previous owner was in debt for 70 grand because of two blown engines if im correct with my facts.

having said that though its a monster, used to run 320kw , obviously not now

we had a little race in my mates 32r that was running 274kw and it was a good 50 meters ahead after about 10 seconds haha. and this was when sniper was running its supposedly 'safe tune'

its got perfect paint and a nice match with the volks.

the engine is a worry imo that is all. shane sold it to matt and soon after that the engine blew, from then on it was a money pit for matt and hes still in serious debt from the car.

I was told the reason behind one of the blown engines (if there was two?!)

Coolant line near plenum/underneath plenum split... pissed all the water out rather quick. Engine had no coolant in it and the sensor simply was seeing air within the main coolant line to the motor. Hence went undetected by owner. Very unfortunate...

That being said, kicked my arse into gear about replacing majority of the coolant lines in and around the car...

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
