or do i just play with the computer? ... unaware of turbos... still learning

i am taken him in for a service asap and they r going to fit unless some nice young man would do it for me cheaper..... lunch & maybe dinner included LOL

I'm pretty sure most T04's are externally gated, this means it wont bolt onto your existing exhaust manifold. You will need a new one which will take an external wastegate, or you can do what I did, had the external wastegate welded onto the exhaust housing, do a search on "td06 stage" in this thread and you might find some photo's of it, if you want photo's pm me your email and I will send them on. Next you will need new oil and water lines (I'm not sure if the T04 is water cooled, correct me if I am wrong) if it doesnt need a water line you will need to have the existing water line plugged up. Next you will probably come across some sort of boost/fuel cut as the stock ecu doesnt like much over 12psi of boost. Following this you will start to lean out at the top end as your stock fuel pump cant cope with the demand of the bigger turbo requiring more fuel. Next your stock clutch will start to slip and then die because it cant handle the extra power. Have I missed anything guys??? Fitting a bigger turbo isnt just a simple case of swapping them over it requires a lot of systems to be upgraded prior... oh I just remembered do you have a bigger intercooler? you'll need a fmic to help stop detonation.

Is her car completely stock? Geez... she started at the wrong end :) If your car is stock, I'd either sell the turbo and get an exhaust (the absolute first thing you do on any car to increase HP is change the exhaust) or put the turbo on a shelf and do a lot of other things first.

What are the actual specs of the turbo?

Coz it might be 2 big or mismatched for the rb25 and u will waste all your $$ putting it on there and will give u shit results.

denham, my t04 is huge, n this size works fine on rb25 so hmm i dunno bout too big :P

too small? maybe so

btw jax my manifold is up for sale as im going bigger again

exhaust is on its way just gotta get down to melb to get it done..... how much for ur manifold yoda?? yes i am doing the other things first. i dunno what sorta turbo it is or isn't finding out today b4 i pay 4 it. i 'm getting it at a cheap price thats y i ave natched it up now.

thanx fellas for the info... i figured the exhaust would ave to b done. yes eugene is stock... coz i dont know anything about turbos. but the twin exhaust is too gay for my baby lol.

  • 2 months later...

the same turbo as mine (which may be up for sale) on a auto soarer 2.5L starts boost at 2100 rpm and has 1 bar by about 3300rpm

im told it would be a little sooner on a manual 2.5L

the exhaust housing a/r is 1.00 from what i could gather. front housing is 0.7 a/r i think

not sure on the wheel sizes

but these turbos can come in heaps of different sizes

    • I read this and thought "ah! I will do this scissor jack on the tow point thing!" I just use my floor/low profile/costco jack and lift the car up by the tow hook itself, then slide jack stands under. Never thought about using scissor into floor jack combo :p
    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
    • I suppose it was relatively stock too, the JZ motor handle most mods thrown at them without even breaking a sweat
