Nightcrawler
Is anyone interested in a group buy on CB Radios? Check these out :CBs on Ebay .... anyone want to go halves with me in buying these? Or do more people want them and I'll ask the guy if he will do a group buy. We've all said at some stage on a cruise that we wish we all had CBs to warn of 'obstacles' etc. These seem to be a very good price. chops
As I mentioned to you previously Lee, the ls1 blokes reckon that the 0.5W ones really aren't powerful enough to be a great use, and are very easily interrupted by hills or trees. The "up to 5km range" thing tends to refer to flat ground in the desert! I'll have a search on ls1.com.au to find the threads again. nismostu
Hey Andy, I know I was talking to you about this a couple of cruises ago. I ended up going to Tandy and bought one of these: UH040XR Pocket Size UHF Handheld Radio An ultra compact portable unit. Featuring 40 channels, 500mW RF Output Power, built in keypad lock and Auto Power Save. The unit is designed to offer outstanding performance in virtually all conditions and situations. It has a multifunction LCD and auto squelch for ease of use, and operates on standard or rechargeable batteries. Complete with belt clip and wrist strap. Features List: • Auto Squelch • 40 Channels • 500mW RF Output Power • LCD Display • Duplex Capability • Group Scan • Open Scan • Monitor • Busy Channel Lock-out Function • LCD Back light • Auto Power Save • Battery Level Indicator • Built-in Keypad Lock • Battery and AC Adaptor not supplied Suggested retail: $99 It seems to do the job pretty well. Probably not as good as some would like. Cheers, Stu Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/38477-handheld-cb-radios/#findComment-780048 Share on other sites

funkymonkey
been using cb's on cruises for yonks... the best is you get to poke fun at non cb cruisers, their cars and driving skills without them even knowing a word of what you n your mates with CB's are laughing at them for. skyline
To nightcrawler and All, You will find if you ask around most clubs cruise using cb's, we even use them travelling interstate(as we did for the melb autosalon).theyre extemely handy when trying to pass with poor visability when the lead car has passed and has a real good veiw and can pass on the info.I've personally use both my son and his girlfriend use cheaper hand helds and i installed a top of the range into the roof of our r33,this gives us excellent range we have still been talking to club members(SVD) that are heading away from windy pt whilst we travelling down king william st! funkymonkey
its $64.30 if you order 5 at once plus shipping to wherever you are, unless you're in melbourne, in which case come to our cruise n I'll give it to you. So far I'm getting one and possibly 2 others, so if you want one that makes 4.
