Fabricate A Return Flow Intercooler And Other Stuff For Me? :)

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

After contemplating getting myself a tig welder and doing all this myself, i thought I'd check to see if someone on here is willing to and can do it cheap for me?

All this would be for my R32 GTST has an rb20

I would be after some return flow piping to fit this intercooler http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=19813&cat=298&page=1 with stock piping connections.

Also a new intake pipe with both oil and bov return pipes plumed in.

lastly I'd need a new V-band dump pipe made for the new turbo (kando TD05/6)

Now i realise the chances of any of this being done without seeing the car is small but what are the chances of say the return flow piping? Looking at getting this done first!

Anyone keen to give it a go. Doesn't matter if its done using lobster cuts or bending just as long as it works. :)

Thanks for any help.

I'll do it for you mate message me if interested 0449831518. I can come down there tho it would be easier if you could make it up to Gosford is that possible? Talk about prices and how you want things done when I see the car

if your going to go return flow why dont you buy a return flow cooler??????

like the blitz ones or somthing similer

Purely because I'm cheap and that's an expensive kit for the r32 (700$ish) and I'm going to be painting it black too so wouldn't want to ruin one of their kits.

You'll have a msg soon just sorting some stuff out before i commit. Gotta compression test engine first before i begin all these mods! And i tried today and my guage is faulty.

If you bring it up here I can do it. I think the return flow from that cooler will be more expensive as more pipe is needed you also run a risk of crushing pipe on a speed bump. Unless you wanted it to look totally stock. I have a return flow cooler here it's yours for $50 I don't need it anymore. Otherwise I have a gtr cooler in good condition then I'll run the piping over your cam covers will look smick. Let me know what you want to do

I was thinking of something like this guy did http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/331717-r32-return-flow-intercooler-kit/ Looks nice and doesnt seem any lower than a normal Intercooler would be!

The whole point of getting the return flow is i don't want to cut a hole in anything. Want it to connect to the stock piping for the side mount intercooler. Everything will be sprayed black aas to attract less attention.

No I didnt trim the reo bar, but I had to use smallish pipe to clear everything, and used stainless as it was rubbing.

It was one hell of a 180 degree lobster. >_<

I don't have any pic of the pipe that Scott made(absolute piece of metal art) but have a pic of what he had to deal with..it had been more easy if the FMIC was 60mm but i'm a bit slow at the brain and went over the top with 75(actually 82mm on a hybrid intercooler)and it's rubbing against the angle frame you can see in the pic...you can hear it when i start the car but while driving is ok(maybe need a bracket to hold it in place, but it's something for the future)

Feel free to give me a call, pm or sms if you would like some work done. Quality fabrication work and welding.

I can tow the car down here and you can drive it back ;)

    • Well, in the same way that you can't tell any SUV from any manufacturer in any size category from any other one, "sports" coupes now all look identical. Stand back and squint your eyes and the Supra and the 400Z and the GR/BRZ things all look the same. I was just thinking last night, when sitting behind a Subaru CrossTrek, that I have no idea what it is, how it differs from an XV, or a Forester, or an Outback, or anything else Subaru offer, and I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be small, medium or large. I contrasted that to the good old days, where a HQ Kingswood had familial similarities to an LJ Torana, but there is no way that you could confuse them, and how a bit later, the HX Kinger and the concurrent Torana and the Gemini all had familial similarities, but you still could not confuse them. Ditto the ugly Fords and Chryslers of the era. But now, a RAV4 looks like a Kluger, looks like a Yaris/Cross/whatever they're calling those stupid f**king things, looks like every other Toyota that's not a Camry/Corolla sedan.
    • The Prelude doesn't look that bad without all that lens distortion in those pics. Makes it look disproportionate when it isn't. Actually I kind of liked it at the Osaka Auto Messe earlier this year.
    • Pour in the highest octane, non-ethanol fuel you can get and see if the readout changes. If it's dead bang on 11% then I would question the sensor. Another quick test, just take it out and run normal (in an american accent) gas-o-line through it and see if the sampled ethanol or lack of changes.   United E85 here in the land of drop bears does vary a bit, I've had as high as E87 (could be water in their tanks too, who knows)
    • Yep. And if you ever do, you'll just have to deal with it then.
    • E10 is pretty tightly regulated in percentage. Too much and engines can't adapt. Every incentive is against them to have too little ethanol though. The more ethanol the higher the octane.
