Hi All,

recently bought a stainless stell CAT Back exhaust for my R33 GTS-t. Now looking at getting the front pipe. Being on a small budget, I came across this on ebay. At first glance it looked the goods. Ive confirmed it to be 304 grade stainless steel and 2mm thick tubing.

Any thoughts on the item / seller? Anyone purchased and installed this item? Just worried about fitment and compatibility

cheers

So many people come onto this forum and complain about boost problems etc, almost always it's because they've just fitted a split dump like pictured in that ebay link, the wastegate flap fouls on the splitter.. getting stuck open, not opening completely etc

AS everyone has said, go bellmouth.

I had one of those, and even after grinding out the inside of the split and getting the flap to move freely, it still boost spiked.

People have got them to work, but they are an absolute PITA to get on and off. Only want to have to do it once!

thanks for all your help everyone!!! looks like the bellmouth is a go!

noticeable improvement from the stock front pipe to this?Only running standard turbo and boost atm......is it worth it?

hell yes, the bellmouth dump is a great budget upgrade..

Then add a 40$ turbotech boost controller for an extra 3 psi of boost and feel the difference..

30% extra power for 250$ it doesnt get much better than that

This is the CAT back i have waiting to get installed...

I know its going to be loud and it will definately drone.....the majority of driving i do is on the hwy.

whats the best solution ? from the resonator to the axle the pipe is 3.5" and from there to the muffler it steps up to 4"!!

its going to be loud.

some help please to quieten it down and no droning

thanks in advance!

are you sure pipe size wont affect how loud it is???

its a megaphone, stepping from std manifold, to 3.5" to 4", its getting larger as it goes...

I was under the impression, that larger to smaller pipe on a turbo exhaust is a better way to go, so 4" down to 3.5 or 3" as the exhaust gasses cool it holds velocity or some such stuff... seek the exhaust size query threads for the full explanation...

the exhaust joint i was talking to are worried that there isnt enough room to install a centre muffler on the 3.5" straight run just after the resonator as pictured.....i think otherwise as the Apexi N1 Pro Cat back has this centre muffler.....

i'll get them to add a centre turbo muffler....see what they say

There is plenty of room. I had an exhangeable section made up for mine.

Its a HKS Hi-Power Silent, looks exactly like the JJR one you pictured. I made up a section between the cat and the flange on the cannon, for the road. Then switch it out for the HKS piece for the track/drags/lols.

Heres the HKS Vs the Trust PEII

And the section i made.

(its straighter than it looks :P ) I just made it with a "multi" piece of pipework so i didnt have to buy another 1.8m piece of pipe so make it perfectly straight. :)

Works fine, is quiet, roars up high, and still makes excellent power.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
