not that I know of.

hi,

because i need a new engine and i don't know if my engine is a s1 or s2. its a 95 model and i have been told it is a series 1.5. i jsut came back from the mechanics and

they have taken the head out and i need some help.. It doesnt have airbags..

Also there is NO 1.5. Its either a series 1 or 2. When I worked in a Jap parts shop we always had people saying they had a 1.5 and the Jap manager always said "whats a 1.5?, there isn't one"

Its just a series 1 running a s2 engine during the series change over, they never called it a 1.5.

Sorry to babble on this but it always p*ssed me off when people said it.

saying s1.5 is the easiest way to clarify things. yes it is techincally a series 1, but when it is running a s2 engine, wing and a few other minor differences, it can be vital for noobs to say that they have a s1.5 at times. for example if they say that they need new coils and want to know what part number they need for splitfires. if they simply say that they have a series 1 then they will get told the wrong information.

yes, s1 has a green sticker on the AFM from memory

Correct.

Shut up. There is also Series 2.5 Technically.

This.

What if you went to Nissan and said you had a 1.5? They wouldnt know what your on about.

Well they can get f**ked because i wouldn't want coil packs for a Series 1 would i? nor AFM?

so i have a series 2 engine.. just didn't want to buy the wrong engine.

thanx

Sounds like it. But i was under the impression all S1.5 had Airbags. hmm.

None the less, if it doesnt utilize a standalone Ignitor and has a Pink AFM i daresay its a Series 2 engine.

S1 has the ignitor on the rear of the engine S2 does not.

you should be able to determine what you have by the plugs anyway.

also there is a S3 version of it as well. mechanically not a lot changes - electrically though its different,

slippy,

whilst I agree with you I too reference them by 1,1.5,2,3 as it is easier to talk to the customer with those numbers, when talking to nissan though I reference by chassis number and model. its easier when dealing with O/seas suppliers to give correct info than to half ass it.

I consider it to be Series 2.5 and not 3 as like you said it only has minor changes. As a series 2 engine and some series 2 bits made a series 1 a 1.5, a few changes to a series 2 engine should signify Series 2.5.

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
