Sports Auto Group Importer Concord

Hey,

So I was roaming carsales and the Internet for a car and happened to stumble across these guys and apparently specialise in importing. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with them, do they pull and dodgy stunts like the usual wound back kms on the dash.

Any info would be great on these guys. Although, Xtreme Motorsports are my first preference.

Here's their website: http://www.sportsautogroup.com.au/

Thanks

Don't buy from xtreme motorsports

I know someone that bought an rx7 series 8 from there and not even a month later his motor blew and then one of his turbos shit themselves...

The car was completely stock and the "warranty" only covered 2k of his 6k rebuild cost

Bought my R33GTR from them, they let me inspect the car several times, let me take it for a test drive, my mechanic for a test drive, then take the car to the mechanics workshop for inspection (took 3-4 hours) and were negotiable on the price. My car is 100% straight and clean. I'm a fussy bastard for what it's worth.

Personally I can't stand used-car salesmen but I couldn't fault these guys. Another thing I liked about their operation is that unlike most others on Parramatta Rd, their showroom is entirely indoors so when you get the car it hasn't been outside in the wind & rain for the past xxx days/weeks/months etc.

Good luck mate thumbsup.gif

Yeah was there a while ago and the car I was looking at had this crap all over the chassis rails and didnt look straight. Mechanic confirmed this.

While I was there, there was this guy who was complaining to them about a car (evo) he bought that turned out to be shit. He had inspected the car, noted the issues asked them to be fixed then took their word that they had been fixed. Took the car home and discovered it was still not fixed, he was back there trying to sort out the mess with them.

If buying from there make sure you double check everything yourself or a trusted mechanic and if repairs need to be done, get it in writing.

When buying used, trust nobody. Nothing beats a thorough inspection by a mechanic, get it on the hoist, be picky, don't be afraid to take it for a spin, put your boot in it if you can, after all you're potentially dropping a decent wad of cash at them thumbsup.gif

I actually bought my Stagea from them 6 months ago and found thier customer service great. Being in Canberra they were happy to take and send as many pics when requested.

They left all the goodies in the car and it hasnt missed a beat. *touch wood*.. and fortunately after having it looked at by my mechanic he gave it the all clear - keeping in mind that it was a 1999 model.

But yes, dont trust anyone.. and no 2nd hand car is perfect.

Not picking a side as its hard to say what the car was actually like without inspecting it before the issue.

However Im sure I could blow an engine out of pure negligence in less than 1/4 of that time frame. Actually, one afternoon could do it.

Difference is, if that was the case - I wouldnt expect a dealer to cover the result of my actions.

Yeah I brought my 34 gtr from them 7 months ago. No issues with it. Stock as with no damage low Kms and runs fine. They did try and rip me last minute on the stock rims but that was all sorted.

^^^ They're actually quite nice there until something comes up eg warranty issues get put into the 'too hard box'

Used car warranty.

Worth nothing from any dealer.

Look I am one of the owners at japlink and our policy is this - we refuse to sell aftermarket warranties but if you want one here it is on the house. The reason is I have zero faith in them and dealers selling 3 year aftermarket warranty at $700 + are just lining their pockets. If u knew the costs were you would scream. It works like this with us - you buy the car and get a free service within the first 2 months. The service is not just a gimmick it gives both us and the client time to drive the car and settle it in - remember these cars can sit for many months. At this point if there is an issue that arose since purchase and you have not killed the car we will fix it. Simple business. Oh I should say we are actually car people ourselves (we both have a gtr and and evo each), we also have Japanese staff, x panspeed mechanic, a dyno (almost ready), factory manual etc. What we are about is the cars not the money, I have told more than a few prospective buyers "look this is not the car for you". You would be surprised how many buy cars that have done zero research on the car they want. A perfect example is young guys who want RX7's, when you advise them that you really need to keep $4k in their account just in case they tend to say "no way the guy down the road says the cars have very few issues and the warranty will cover it all" wow do they get it wrong (funny how we end up with them in our workshop for repairs).

We are not perfect but we try.

Just remember a lot of dealers are full of praise for themselves until you have an issue.

So some of Xtreme's cars are at Sports Auto Grp or AllImports now?

Look, I'm aware op isn't going to read this cause it's ages ago, but in the Hope someone else does and becomes informed I'm going to post anyway.

The warranties offered by used car dealers are basically third party agreements that they are selling. It's a separate company that has offered the dealership commissions to them for used car warranties. Thus, it's not a reflection on the dealer as such, but on the buyer not doing their homework on what's covered and what isn't. I'm not going to stand up for dodgy dealers at all, but you have to get all the info. I know when I bought mine I was offered warranty cover, but read the fine print to see that it only covered the first 2k towards driveline damage. So it wasn't worth the extra that the dealer wanted for the warranty. I've not regretted it, there is nothing I could have claimed.

So, read the fine print before investing you lazy bunch!

I looked at a white evo 8 off them looked mint..I questioned why it had an aftermarket front mount but was entirely stock the salesman gave me the story. Popped the hood found over spray on a wiring loom. Popped the boot found over spray on the boot seal where the wing was removed. Was also told by the salesman that the factory bbs rims were going to be removed off the car.. After we picked all the faults of the car the salesman confessed to knowing the faults of the car as he used to be a panelbeater.

My personal experience would obviously govern a steer clear.

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
