Firstly I apologies if this has been covered but either my search function sucks balls or I just can't find anything on the topic?

Ok so my exhaust is a 3" turbo back job but has a custom screamer pipe and a blocked bov for dose

Neither of these things appeal to me

The car has a td05 turbo gtr injectors FMIC and a few other goodies making about 210rwkw at 1bar

The reason I say this is I have 2 questions

Will a stock bov set up either still blocked or plumbed in properly be ok on these boost levels? am I going to loose any power or have more lag or response yadayada,

Looking for a slightly more legal and city friendly sound. I actually don't mind the flutter but yea anyway.

And the other question is what's the best way to plumb both of these things in properly? I know the screamer needs to enter the exhaust system before the cat.

The screamer makes sence to me but I'm not even sure if my blocked bov is a stock unit? Pick below.

Sorry I will also add that I have a limited understanding of the pipe work, how much would a shop slug me without being dicks to remove the screamer pipe and plumb it in?

Thanks in advance for the help and sorry if theirs a million threads already existing.

Stock BOV it is . Just use some hose of that size, or source the original hard pipe from a wreck to connect the BOV outlet back to the turbo inlet. Depending on what needs to be done to your turbo inlet to hook that up, this should cost from not a lot to not a lot more.

Exhaust shop should be able to connect the screamer back into the dump at the bottom bend for not a lot. Almost beer money.

Oh, by the way, the stock BOV is the best thing to have on the car for response. And it will be perfectly fine at 1 bar boost.

That is the stock BOV, they just whacked a cup over the end to seal it off. Take that off and get that line plumbed infront of your turbo, in your intake pipe. What ECU do you have btw? Do you have an AFM?

I would leave the BOV and get rid of the screamer. That one will get you into big shit.

you can buy a JJR bellmouth dump pipe for $180 which will fix your screamer problem, id rather do that than plumb in the screamer... the bellmouth works best on a stock sort of setup

reconnect the stock bov as its just capped off. buy the stock hoses and pipes from a wrecker. stock bov good to over 20psi no worries (1.5 bar)

Ok I'm going to fly my noob flag a little bit.

I buy the stock solid hose and that goes from my bov to.... Is their another blocked off hose point somewhere?

Also a new bellmouth dump pipe what size are they? Do I need a larger one?

can post a pic of the intake/turbo side of engine, as you say it has a TD05 so the piping may have been changed, if the stock intake pipe is still in place then there will be a port to plumb it back into.

if the TD05 turbo has the standard T25 flange setup them just buy the dump pipe as stated already, pic of screamer from turbo would help with advise aswell

agreed i forgot to take notice that you have a TD05, you may need to retain the custom dump unless your TD05 has the standard sort of dump pipe pattern.

please take a photo of your turbo and plumbing on that side and post.

Is that screamer just pressed into the WG outlet? Jeeezus Christ!

The dump and screamer are nasty enough that I would replace them rather than keep them. But yes, as above, it could just be joined back in and it would work*.

*by work I mean just as well as it does now, but without the shitful noise.

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
