Is it true can you get a 40kw gain from a 1300$ Nismo tune? I have asked the producer of the video and he said that when he brought it in, it was dyno'd at 93RWKW at when they finished it was dyno'd at 147 RWKW.

It seems to be one of those too good to be true videos, others opinions?

May as well just buy a proper ECU for that price. That way if you decide to turbo your car later on or change something major you have a tuneable ECU and can get the most out of it

It seems a bit to good to be true having that much jump, but I dont know anything about it so cant say that its defenitely to good to be true

^ +1 thing isn't stock, probably a very healthy motor as well.

this is from the comments of the clip:

Amazing results with a nistuned Z32 computer modified to run the R33, this cheap alternative is conducted in house and retails for $1300 fitted and tuned,

as the R33 computer is not a chippable board. the first run is standard setting with aftermarket exhaust 96.3 kw, then after a nistune chip and tune 121.5 kw!

then a set of camshafts and a nice set ENVY Dyno vernier cam gears inlet and exhaust doing away with the variable valve timing showed amazing improvements @ 147 kw!

thats almost the power of the turbo engine kids!!

So they removed the variable valve timing that helps with mid range power (what you use for the street) to get that extra amazing few kws up top which wont feel like much.

in the end, you will pay equal or more for that then for a standard turbo motor.

even the 25kw or so gain just from the nistune is somewhat questionable. the 121kw or whatever it was (too lazy to scroll up) seems roughly right for a tuned power output, but the 96kw original power run seems somewhere between 5 to 15kw too low.

I've seen this vid aswell. As dragger said the cars not stock (big cams, cam gears, exhaust (assuming extractors :P) just that stuff alone will set you back over 2000 for parts and fitting. plus the tune ontological your looking at around 3500 grand to get the 40ish killerwasp gain.

for that kind of money you could almost buy and install a standard det which would make more power. also if your on your ps cams ect make the car illegal anyway lol.

the dunk results could be true, but for the gains not overly worth it :)
