Copy and paste of a thread a mate started in justcommodores just putting here to try and get a quick answer.

Hey guys

Last week I had my stereo done. Got all new speakers, a 5 chan amp and sub installed by a reputable company. The system works great and love it.

However, after I got my car back I found a problem. When I go to lock my car with the remote all passenger doors lock but the drivers door does not. Can only lock it when I insert key into door lock and lock that way.

Same situation when I unlock. Push unlock on remote and it will unlock all passenger doors and leaves the drivers door locked. I then have to put key in door and unlock it that way.

If I just use key in the door lock all doors will lock and unlock. Its only when I use the remote that the drivers door will not lock or unlock.

Also when using the lock, unlock buttons on centre console all passenger doors lock/unlock but not drivers. Same deal with auto lock at speed and unlock when gear stick is moved into Park.

Took it back today and they spent 2 hours on it checking it. They said that all the connections and wiring seem fine and that the motor that drives the lock won't start. They believe that has seized and is causing the problem.

They have rang up Holden and booked it in to get looked at.

Just thought I would see if anyone else has had a similar problem?

Personally I think that the f**kers have shorted the motor that does the electric locking on the driver's door when they were installing the speaker.

My question is how does he go about getting them to pay out, I mean, if he takes it to holden they're just gonna say that they motor is stuffed not how, and the place will claim it's not their fault.

So yea, ideas, experiences, suggestions, thanks,

Teir

P.S.

I'll give people the name of the place in private massages, it's a pretty big dealer int he northern suburbs.

Sometimes the solenoid for the remote lock piggybacks on the normal locking links. If the securing screw comes loose, the links just slide past the solenoid. It possibly got bumped / dislodged while they were installing the door speakers.

Take the door liner off and check the solenoid is securely attached to the links.

Sounds about right.

As my mate mentioned they did look over the car today and found nothing, but I was telling him that I'll come over with a multimeter and have a punt myself.

So! I'm looking for something on the remote lock piggybacks. We'll try and start there, thanks mate.!

they didn't simply bump the plug when they did it, unplugging the motor?

another possibility is that they broken the door open sensor, although that would be more evident by the interior light staying on, and possibly a light on the dash. however i think the horn will also beep when you try and lock the car if it thinks the door is still open.

Ha, even better news!

After he got it back yesterday from them checking it trying to figure out the problem his stereo won't go above ~15 in volume, it just cuts out...

Things are starting to get frustrating for him now, every time he brings it back there there's something new wrong...

I actually just realized what you meant here, I was thinking something else.

I don't think that's right as when they place looked at it for themselves they specifically said that they couldn't get the motor to turn, so it can't be that the motor is turning but it's not connected to the lock.

Unless they're retards and the motor is turning.... Never know....
