Again. I have rung the RTA and all previously engineered cars are fine.

This is in NSW, anyway.

There is so much mis-information going on about this subject its not funny, if you want the REAL information ring or visit your local RTA.

DON'T BELIEVE HALF THE RUBBISH YOU READ ON INTERNETS.

Engineering Certification Scheme (ECS) certificates

The VSCCS replaced the Engineering Certification Scheme (ECS) on 19 December 2011.

If you have already submitted your ECS certificate to the (former) RTA or RMS it will not be affected by the VSCCS.

ECS certificates not yet submitted to RMS should be taken to a motor registry by 19 June 2012. From 20 June 2012, if you have not submitted your ECS certificate you will need to get a VSCCS certificate.

iF YOU WANT CORRECT INFORMATION GO THE THE RELEVANT AUTHORITY, NOT THE RAMBLINGS OF A "INTERWEBS EXPERT".

And once a cop defect's you for your old engineering cert and needs to be checked again under the "New rules"

What are you gonna do then ?

My rules come from Indy So @ IS MOTOR RACING , he is going 100% by the book of what the VSCCS has told him.

edit : at the end of the day what the government put's on there website doesn't mean shit , there so claimed " No changes to the engineering law's" is a load of shit go try get your car fully engineered with the new engineer's and see what happens either you will get a shit job that will get constantly recalled, or the engineer would shut down

Facts is what is needed not hearsay, if your car is engineered and no further changes have taken place then the defect WILL be cleared, police will defect you if they think it has been changed outside of your certification, that is their job.

I've been pulled over twice by the police with the RTA road side inspection van, they look at my cert, check the car then let me go, if you follow the rules you will be fine.

Unless you act like a knob or have changed your car so it doesn't comply anymore that is, its the people will low ride height, ATMO BOV, loud exhaust that have had it engineered then have changed it that will get done.

Keep it as per the certification or too bad so sad, sell it and buy a Camery.

And people can sook all they like, me I don't care about someone crying that they got defected, fix the non conforming parts and deal with it.

I definitely think it's about time we step up our game and counteract the police actions thrown against us. From the numerous forums I've been on, I have heard of plenty of issues with police officers targeting imports.

One such instance was when a police officer gave a car a defect label because it had rusted boot screws. Another instance? Someone had their car defected because their drivers side seatbelt didn't retract quickly enough.

It's getting out of hand. I want the dickheads off of our street, but you can't label us all dickheads from the cars we drive. Sounds a lot like someone targeting people on the colour of their skin, only different.

I'd sign any petition you guys had. I fully support this idea.

    • Hi guys, long time no post as per usual! It's been a busy year so far, the biggest thing being a new job.  After 28 years in the automotive industry I decided it was time for a change.  I was losing faith in the industry and where it's heading.  Now in a completely different industry (electrical) working for a company that manufacture water pump contollers.  Not as sexy as cars but it's an interesting,  challenging industry. I now don't work Saturdays which is a bonus!  It's still 50-55 hours a week but having Saturdays ack after 28 years of working them is awesome!   No news on the GT-R but i did decide to add some more JDM goodness into my life....           1990 300 ZX.  She's not perfect but for a 35 year old car she ain't bad!  Just going to tidy it up a bit and enjoy it.  It's currently auto but will start stockpiling everything for a manual swap. It WILL distract me even further from the GT-R but im hoping not for too long! It somewhat proves a 6'8" freak can fit in a 300 ZX.  Sort of...  I drove it home from the previous owners house in Melbourne via Black Spur and Merton Gap (2 awesome bits of Victorian twisty road) and it was amazing!  Handles so well!!!   I don't think it would be worthy of a full build page but I'll post up some of the upgrades here if anyone is interested?  Cheers guys!
    • End game is to: - Remove all the slop from old worn parts - Adjust setup so that the wheels actually fit and the car is drivable (currently it is not because of the extreme rubbing on the guards).   Progress over the last couple of days, removed the rear hubs! Next steps: - Buy bushings - Replace bushings/bearings on hub - Reinstall
    • Cracked deck  And other cam snap stuff
    • A few random issues have popped up since my last update. My WMI pressure sensor failed within about 10 minutes of it seeing liquid. It was a 20$ China special, so I'm not surprised. My name brand replacement should arrive today.  My power steering assist also decided to crap out last weekend. The usual, works for about 60 seconds after starting the car then I lose it. I dusted off my old copy of NDS and connected to the HICAS ECU. Code 4 for assist solenoid.... I tested the solenoid and it's fine.  I knew the day where my HICAS ecu would crap out would come, and I welcome it. It was the last HICAS part on the car that is now in the bin. I've ordered an SSR and I will control the power steering solenoid with my Haltech ecu. It will be nice to have proper speed referenced assist again after all these years.
