Hi Guys

I have done a bit of a search but nothing is mentiond about getting the E-brake on the 5 speed auto to lock the rear wheels, my parents bought me a drift lession BYO car at eastern creek for christmas and my hand brake does notihng. I have taken it to a mechanic on the weekend when i had it serviced and they tightend it for me to no effect to get it to lock the wheels the peddle is much harder to push down now tho, i found a post (shown below) and im wanting to know if its just an issue of not tightning the right spot or if the E-brake is not able to be used in this way, or if something is broken with it that i need to get fixed so that i can enjoy this lesson.

You can also actually adjust the park brakes shoes.. You may or may not know that v35 run a park brake setup where it has like drum brake setup which is in the inside o the rear rotors.. If u take your back wheels off u will see on the around the center of your rear rotor that there is a rubber grommets or plug.. Remove it then turn the rotor with park brake off.. Whilst turning get a torch and peep theru that hole u will see a sprocket looking mechanism.. Turning it will tighten or loosen your park brakes.. From memory it's located towards top of the rotor.. General rule is to tighten it to point where it locks up ad u can't turn the rotor and back off about 3 turns..

You CAN'T drift a car with an E-Brake. The whole concept of drifting is that you need to hold the brake button in on a conventional handbrake so it doesn't lock in, so you can pull it up and down at will. In order to engage and disengage a foot brake requires considerable effort and time that makes it impossible to drift.

But I agree that the foot brake setup on the V35 leaves a LOT to be desired. I got sick of it not working effectively so a little while back I pulled off the rear wheels and tightened the adjusting screw to maximum possible (any tighter and the rear wheels would no longer turn) .... the park brake was effective for about 2 weeks, then it went back to how it was before. But it still didn't work effectively enough to completely lock the rears in order to drift - even if it were possible with a foot brake.

Thanks for that NIght, thats exactly what i was looking for so im going to have to use the power of the car to initaite drift for this thing. I prob wont be able to do any 180's or anything like that the lesson is like a beginers thing to teach the basics of it all so i dont know much about drifting but i want to learn and im headded in the right direction. i will give up ont he E-brake now that i know that thanks again.

The parking/emergency brake isn't really designed to lock the rear wheels, they are more there to prevent the car rolling on a hill or to slow the car down in an emergency (the latter not as much)

My suggestion is to completely forget about the e-brake entirely and focus on getting the car to slide via weight transfer

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
