Hard luck rep

Seems there a fair few of us around that like finding the limits of the standard internals of the rb25.....One of you should write a book "What happens when you have too much power and not enough strength"

After your rebuilds, do any of you find it annoying to drive around a 250+rwKw skyline everyday???

Thanks guys , but be warned "This recipe can leave a BAD aftertaste!"

for desert......Arais forgies , rb26rods with a sprinkle of ARP rod bolts :(

Sounds good, dont forget the full balance and O rings. Got the same rig in mine. Bearings I put in were ACL race SR20 Big End and RB30 mains. $140 for the set. Do seals as well. Front and rear all are same as RB30 so 3 front oil pump seals and 1 rear main

I'd say every 'serious' 25t owner gets a taste of this.....some of us twice for a total of 6 dead pistons. :)

Thanks Fane , but the only gas on board that day was the gas eeking outta my butt!

Hoe Train... any exuse for forgies :D

Packy , I'll let you know if living with 250rwkw gets boring ...or if I get arrestted! (more likely)

Skylinegeoff .... All new bearings , seals & belts even "O" ringing block...just cause I Can :burnout:

my right spins when im turning right (in a drift or something), im thinking my diff is ****ed :P

straight-line and full left and a bit to the right it locks up 2 wheels great but as soon as i start turning a bit more to the right during a burnout (on private roads) it open wheelers :( thats a ****ed diff right?

Get a cylinder of industrial oxygen, add an injector on full pulse with a throttle position sensor to switch it all on at full throttle.

Crude but effective. Took a 1.8l Laser Lynx from 10 sec 0-100 to 7 sec flat on stock intake and exhaust, but damn did it burn some plugs out. I'd hate to see the piston tops :(

Geoff your a phsyco fker!! :( i like that

teach me more!! :P

Apparently so....

Thread Hijack!!!!

then put a 30mm sway bar on the rear (custom from whiteline) and watch as every connected component destroys itself, subframe, coilover mounting points, until you have to weld nice solid brackets in place to compensate for the stresses on track...even the handbrake light locked on with the chassis flex.

Oh and then fabricate a custom 2.5 inch straight through exhaust, no cat, no mufflers and a 80mm pod filter through poly drain custom intake then listen to the music :D:D:D

rep...sounds like your build will be nice. PFC too?

R33 Impul ,well, since you STOLE the car I was trying to buy from Paul @ Autoworks a while back now , I'm Not gonna tell ya!!

JK ,tho we were bidding on the same car :D

ALLFAST converters in Perth , talk to Simon , sounds like he knows his stuff! or wait til mine is done and you can take it for a drive :D

Shit sorry bout stealing your car Dude :P

But it would be great if you could take me for a drive when yours is done.

Sorry to go a bit of topic but I have heard that in Jappa's they can fit a 4 speed o/d auto box from a patrol in skylines, have you heard bout this?

I was thinkin bout looking into putting as tip tronic from a R34 in but where to start?...... :spcow:

What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
