Hey all,

Could anyone please shed some light on what the error code is I'm getting for my Hicas as I'm having a little bit of trouble figuring out on what it may be, Rear end of the car is dangerously swaying from left to right over small bumps and dips in the road along with the back end jumping/skipping over the road when cornering.

Would really like this problem solved and not to take the easy way out by putting a lock bar in. Below are 2 videos i have recorded of the diagnostic fault code.

Best regards and looking forward to your responses Chris.

Best regards Chris.

Mode B)

Lamp on for 5 seconds.

No pulses for 5 seconds.

Nine 2-second interval indicating the system status (18 seconds total).

(short (0.1 sec) pulse = good, 1 second pulse=bad)

HICAS Diagnostic Codes 1993-1999

11 HICAS control unit

12 HICAS motor power supply not present

13 HICAS motor output not present

21 Vehicle speed sensor not present

22 Steering angle sensor not present

23 Steering angle sensor neutral or not present

24 Rear main sensor input not present

25 Rear sub sensor input not present

31 Parking brake sensor input not present

32 (Auto) Inhibitor switch input not present; (Manual) Neutral switch input not present

33 Engine speed signal not present

Well, it looks like the two codes are 22 and 23, which indicate that your steering angle sensor has either died, or you have replaced the steering wheel with one that does not drive the sensor properly ( a common rookie mistake).

Just FYI, the correct answer to the information I asked for was..... Sequence starts at the beginning of the video. Error codes start at 7 seconds. Sequence starts repeating at 24 seconds.

First 2 flashes indicate mode "a" or mode "b" I'm fairly confident. Then the sequence starts from there with 1 slow flash and 2 fast flashes, Then 2 slow flashes and 3 fast flashes which is what my understanding is. I could be wrong but as i said this post is just for clarification

I know the steering sensor is one of the fault codes confidently.
