Hi everyone, as u can see im new to these forums as i've just purchased my V35 350GT skyline this week.

The first thing i want to do with my skyline is exhaust, but i wouldn't have a clue where to start.

I basically want something that makes the stock V35 exhaust (which already sounds awesome) have a bit more of a louder grunt and a bit of a rumble whilst idl'ing.

I have around 2 grand to play around with so if anyone had some ideas on where to start i would greatly appreciate it!

I could custom make a system for that but without a location it makes it hard to recommend workshops. Do you want a custom or brand name exhaust?

i'm open to suggestions mate, anything that will sound good and bring some performance with it.

My location is Mackay QLD

for that kind of money you can get a brand name one shipped from the US with change left over. Will be direct bolt on no fuss install.

my dads awesome with cars so im still learning aha i would have to get someone to install it properly, could you suggest any brands/setups?

If you want low drone, quite when cruising but deep still and then roar above 5k then fujitsubo exhaust, megan V2 HR ypipe, HFC or resonated test pipes + stock headers

if you want more rumble and throaty but more expensive and better performing, then Motordyne exhaust, motordyne xyz pipe and motordyne ART cats + stock headers

if you want cheap and loud then a knock off HKS with megan hr ypipe

go on g35driver, there is a thread with sound/video clips of all different exhaust combinations

$2k only for exhaust mods or $2k for mods altogether?

$2k for exhaust mods only = Berk HFC (~$500) + Stillen CBE (~$1200) or a knock-off HKS CBE (~$500)

$2k for all mods = Berk HFC (~$500) + Motordyne Plenum Spacers (~$250) + Sway Bars (~$300) + knock-off HKS CBE (~$500) + K&N Drop-In (~$50)

These are estimate pricing in US Dollars and excludes shipping.

thanks for the replies boys i appreciate it, im looking to spend $2k MAX.

r6n350gt i was originally looking at the motordyne art cats and headers as i have heard the sound it makes and its incredible. Also that's spot on what i want, but i did want the roar to kick in at around 3-5k rpm. would appreciate it if you could post some links to websites that provide these products so i can check it out.

cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been looking around at the moment i'm leaning towards the ART DT-S Dual exhaust system it comes with absolutely everything for around $1,300 which is great and it's bolt on of course.

This also has the sound that i'm looking for, do any of you own this setup?

Yet again i've had a change in mind i'm looking at going for the Motordyne Shockwave V2 it sounds insane, but more pricey at $1,500..

Is that Fast Intentions brand trusted at all i've never heard of it

Hahaha... Yeah it is good and loud, huh? Got them installed on my car, definitely one of the best buys.

Yes, Fast Intentions is very good too. I would rate them second below Motordyne of course. The Fast Intentions are more quiet until you floor it.

It all depends on how much you're willing to spend on just the CBE. You gotta take into account taxes and shipping costs, so you might be looking at $2k for the Fast Intentions or Stillen and over $2k for the Motordyne.

Yeah man i've listened to numerous sound clips of exhausts such as STILLEN, Fujitsubo, ARK, HKS and i still think that the Motordyne Shockwave's sound the best by far.

I had a feeling shipping would be expensive, but i am happy to pay around the $2k mark for the perfect setup. If only we had some of these specialty stores in Australia better yet QLD..

I know this is a little late, but have you checked this link out:

I actually haven't but there is a similar page for the G35 2007 sedan which is the equivalent of the V36. I know what I'm going to get now!!

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
