Eoi:- Private Drag Day At Adelaide 1/4 Mile. July 1St 2012

Recommended Posts

A drum of VHT is over $1,600 and then add another few hundred

for the drum of methanol they use to mix and prepare the compound. Rino then hires a tractor with spray attachment and so on to do the job. Using a hand held spray pack would take ages!

I've run on a unprepared track and I couldn't get close to my best, and that was using Nitto drag radials. That said, I'm still keen for a private day but I need numbers before I can go any further. Could aim for early Aug, after 29th July meet.

I've got a pair of new MT Street's in 265/40/18 on 18x9.5 - far from optimal but I'm keen to see how they go. 255 or 275 15 or 16 seem to be popular.

I've got no chance of running under 11.0 so no dramas for me there but I can understand your dilemma, Andrew!

Josh, what was your best time, mph, 60" at the recent meet? What tyres did you run?

If i can get some proper tyres ill be out there again.

any recommendations for a 33 gtst rim and tyre size?

i could have sold my nitto's to you. 275/40/17 great for the strip or find some et streets.

tyres are a huge factor with big launch especially u manual blokes but lower pressures with a higher wall helps big time and this stuff works very well

again vht is good but overated, when ur trying to smash 2000hp down yeh u need everything u can get but us first 30ft is all done unless ur king of the hill like this ( sorry i had to lol)

when did that change? used to be under 10 and over 140MPH??.

nup its faster than 10.99 and ur out cage time......calder lets u have a 2nd shot just to make sure u ran a 10 lol

12.7 @121mph. best 60ft of 2.4, just ran stretche achilies 235/40 on a 9.5. less than ideal. cant even drop the pressure to much, just concerned the bead could pop on the tyre if i lowered it too much. best mph for the day was 124.XX.

there was a friend of a friend there with a 31 that ran a 10.8 something on the day and he backed it up with a 10.4 and then was told to go home.

The nittos would have been great, would have slipped over some GTT stockies quite nicely

Im not too sure how i will go making this, clutch is starting to give in. would be keen to tag along and take some pics though.

The 31 is regoed and was a daily untill recently, now the motor is about to become a 26/30 and put into a dedicated drag car.

Ill be sure to give you a msg when I have some cash. What do you reccomend for a daily that will also see the track a few times a year?

I have an excedy h/d at the moment which has done good for the last 3 years, but guessing i will need something a lillte more durable.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
