f**k FMICs!

hot as day, oil cooler keeps the gauge at running temps when i was late for a medical for my new job, driving a skyline...

half way home i got some petrol and saw how my new exhaust heat wrap was handling it.

so best way... touch it HAH. i think it was the coldest thing in the engine bay!! id say... 50 degrees? opposed to a 200-300 degree exhaust??

AWESOMENESS!!!

driving home seeing everyones cars breaking down, luckily i didnt break down with no aircon, only needs gas now :)

im tossing up between a gtr or an evo 7 now

thats bloody nice ay! little above budget but im sure i could figure it out if it came up for sale in a month or two.

not ready to buy just yet though

and f**kING aftermarket cluster...

i hate it that every gtr has an aftermarket cluster, its obviously wrong. thats just to lazy to wind back the clock...

a massive reason why im looking at evos.

unless its like ants car id never buy a gtr with an aftermarket cluster

Notsureifsrs,

Evo's will never have the street credit/presence that a Skyline GTR has on the road.

very serious, look on carsales and youll struggle to find one that is even close to what the odo says.

thats true but if its newer, faster, cleaner, genuine kms, cheaper insurance and every second person doesnt call it a boat thinking thats a really funny original never heard joke that wasnt funny in the first place.

there looking pretty good.

33 is the most hated gtr and it will shit me having one because of this even though i like them.

hey everyone.

took the injectors to get cleaned today and after some mates and i put the car back together it seems that the starter motor is having a hissy fit. but i dont know exactly what the problem is. i was hopeing that someone local would have time to come and teach me whats wrong with it. also id love to borrow a diagnostic tool/software to fault find the issue plus all the others. anyways ill check the forum again later and then ill inbox anyone who is keen to help my adress and phone number.

cheers everyone.

Who cares what people think lol.....

Anyway, if you're after an import like a 33 GT-R it's not even worth looking locally (this is because of the amount of shit you have to sort through that have been brought in previously by dodgy dealerships).

Just import one through Iron Chef.... (srs). I always see really nice R33's go through auction in Japan. Youll be able to get an absolute mint one for around 25k landed and complied....

Black R33's look tough as f**k when done right....

whats wrong with it reedo? whats it doing??

25k is out of budget and i really cbf importing

btw, next time i see you ill constantly call your car shit and well see how you react ok? it is quite annoying hah

after putting it back together we went to start it. it cranked for a second and then there was a not loud but still audiable bang from the engine and now it wont crank. we all thought it was just not cranking cause of a flat battery but thats deffinately not it. so the conclusion ive come to using forum trouble shooting is the possibility of hydrualic lock. but im not a mechanic so im going to jump to conclusions. this was all after the injector rebuild which is linked to hyrdro lock in many cars?

Lol it wouldn't really bother me because I know how much potential the s15 has after watching numerous Japanese videos and how much enjoyment I get from it. Built properly and it can destroy anything.....

Same goes for an R33 GT-R, I have seen plenty of japanese videos of it terrorising the Wangan, and circuits of Japan. It has a lower drag co-efficient than an R32 GT-R (r32 - 0.4, r33 = 0.34), its lighter than R34 GT-R, its has a nice spacious interior, still has that 90's feel inside, and youll have more room to spend on modifications than if you were to buy a 34 gtr.

The longer wheelbase of the R33 GT-R is why its favoured for high speed wangan runs because it has better high speed stability than the 32 or 34.

hmm yeah not to sure man haha im a sparky :)

id get it to a mechanic, if you do think its the starter motor push start it. if you suspicious its mechanical dont cause you could f**k something hah. does the starter motor crank when you try to start it now?

yeah thats true but there aint no 33r in WTAC hah 2 evos won this year.

plus you can do anything with money and skill mine wont be modded much and im not a race car driver and i know ill be happy with either, just annoying that so many f**kwits ruin skylines in australia, and to import is to expensive because of our great government.

ive got a mate who is a 3rd year apprentice and owns a 33. and then another mate who is fully lisenced so i might need one of them to come assist. unless someone on here can offer. and honestly im not sure what the starter is ment to sound like. im too dumb for that. i think i should just quit uni and get an apprentiship as a mechanic. from what ive read fixing hydro lock shouldnt be too hard as ive removed my plugs before. but still if anyone is free tomorrow id really appreciate a hand

man i doubt anyone in here would know how to fix it ay, plus i for one dont like touching other peoples cars unless i break something hah.

haha apprenticeship yes, mechanic no. hardest trade ever

hahaha fair enough. i figured there would be a mechanic in the group somewhere. guess we're all just backyard home schooled genuises? anyways i have some ideas for tomorrow so if that works id like to meet everyone before she dies again. im part of a local group called Mighty Car Mods - Hunter Region, we are having a cruise up to mount sugerloaf on monday night. we arnt your usual burnouts and f wits. so if anyones keen ill post up details closer to the date.

well theres really only 5 of us in here and we all more learn about performance and modding rather then knowing how to repair every fault that can occur in an engine. kinda like if it breaks we fix it.

yeah details would be good closer to the day, not to keen on night cruises as it looks heaps more sus to cops and also you cant see cops, if it were day time id be 100% but well see :P

hahaha yeah. well im thinking bout asking around for even some unpaid work at a mechanics before uni goes back and maybe a day a week.

and we havent had any trouble yet and we've been running meets for about 6 months now. supprisingly ive been pulled over alot in my lancer (its dead now) but not once in the skyline.

    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
    • -10 is plenty for running to an oil cooler. When you look at oil feeds, like power steering feeds, they're much smaller, and then just a larger hose size to move volume in less pressure. No need for -12. Even on the race cars, like Duncans, and endurance cars, most of them are all running -10 and everything works perfectly fine, temps are under control, and there's no restrictions.
    • Update: O2 sensor in my downpipe turned out to be faulty when I plugged in to the Haltech software. Was getting a "open circuit" warning. Tons of carbon buildup on it, probably from when I was running rich for a while before getting it corrected. Replaced with new unit and test drove again. The shuffle still happens, albeit far less now. I am not able to replicate it as reliably and it no longer happens at the same RPM levels as before. The only time I was able to hear it was in 5th going uphill and another time in 5th where there was no noticeable incline but applying more throttle first sped it up and then cleared it. Then once in 4th when I slightly lifted the throttle going over a bump but cleared right after. My understanding is that with the O2 sensor out, the ECU relies entirely on the MAP tune and isn't able to make its small adjustments based on the sensors reading. All in all, a big improvement, though not the silver bullet. Will try validating the actuators are set up correctly, and potentially setting up shop time to tune the boost controller on closed loop rather than the open loop it is set to now. Think if it's set up on closed loop to take the O2 reading, that should deal with these last bits. Will try to update again as I go.
