Looking good, I am going to watch with most interest.

That turbo I bought off of you a few years ago is still going well :), absolutely love it.

yeah i am a bit excited about the build, i would have done a much bigger engine set up but this came at the wrong time as am getting married later this year so yeah dont want to spend that much money but just something that would be reasonably safe for 400kw mark,

am glad turbo is still going good, they are absolutelly amazing turbos and the new gtx are even better,

morie from HP in a box has told me u had a bit of a tough time too with the engine but glad everythings alrite now

yeah spool has either 9:1 or 8.2 with r33 head but it does change with 34 head as it has a smaller combustion chamber

ah that's right you have a R34 head I have a R33 one that makes sence now

Ah, Congratulations on getting married. Yeah, I had my own engine trouble a few years ago, full story in my Build Thread - link in Signature :)

thanks buddy, that is a great write up and great build u did there :) if you dont mind me asking how much did it cost for the block work, balance, machining etc??

For the Block, Crank, Rod and Piston machine work was roughly $3k

$3K OH OK i didnt think it costs that much but i guess they did everything so it may all add up bit by bit

me either mate my missus won't find out how much my RB25/30 is goin to cost

lol yeah i have the same problem i cant browse anything in front of her so she doesnt see the prices lol, she got preety freaked out when i sold the sway bar for $80, she was like who would pay that much money for that, lol

HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS, well it felt like christmas today i got my engine rebuild kit pistons, rods, bearings, headgasket thanks to

Brad from spool imports he has been a great help and sent them over fast :)

If i am lucky 2mrrow ill go and drop my head, block, crank, rods, pistons for a 20thou bore and hone, clean, balance, facing off the block and head for a perfect gasket fitment etc etc.

here are some photos

well yesterday i dropped my head, block, pistons, rods, crank, clutch+flywheel, harmonic balancer all to be cleaned and balanced at

ADVANCED ENGINE RECONDITIONERS in salsbury

- block is going to receive a deep clean paint, dirt etc etc

- will also deck the block 2 or 3 thou

- Bore and hone 20thou

- Balance everything

- crank is going to be machined and a crank collar is going to be fitted

- Head is going to be cleaned and faced

should be all done by the end of next week :)

I also bought a new rb30 water pump, sump gasket, manifold gasket and few other things.

So while all that is being done i sandblasted my turbo compressor housings and my engine mounts.

i also cleaned out and painted alternator, starter motor. and exhaust manifoild in heat proof paint :)

post-46081-0-00497300-1340789006_thumb.jpg the paint is fresh thats y it may look a bit funny

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
