Thanks Ken,

Sorry to see the boys parked on Arrowsmith. Talking with Doug over a bottle of champers at midnight and he seems keen to finish the business.

No Tony, I dont care if they are genuine or not... I'm just trying to work out the most cost effective way to get one! After passing quite a few 4wds in the last couple of years, I am beginning to wonder If I will be slower in the bigger heavier car - or the added grip off the turns will give me a 1/2 second / kilometer...

Only one way to find out.

Yes, n1 has different pistons and block as well.

It would be great to post up the R32 n1 specs if possible, there are a few on here that it would help.

TT, I'm building my r32 gtr to n1 spec piece at a time for production touring car racing.

N1 has a better block. Ribbed for your pleasure.

N1 pistons are different but it's all a much in a muchness since they are all cast.

I would say that your could get yourself an N1 block and fill it full of Arias forged, Carillo rods, Tomei crank, composite gasket, Nismo 581 turbines, FC management and how da fark would they know???

Or am I taking an unfair advantage?

T.

All the go fast bits, not needed for TT. Just reliablility & a good handling/brakes package. Things that help like exhaust size are covered in the rules and easy policed. Brakes, Wheel Size, and Added oil reserve + cooler however are the things I will include. Looking for about 7.5+rwkw/kg and that will do me!

And yes Duncan, a spec sheet would be great to sort thr sh1t from the clay.

Actually we have decided to stick with stock engine atm anyway, given everything else like injectors is stock we aren't exactly stressing it out with high revs....

Thanks for that link Robocop, that clarifies where the 245 tyres come from, and that v spec/n1 did not have cross-drilled rotors if I read it correctly.

Still lots of other things it would be great to clarify if anyone has further info :)

Unfortunately CAMS are unable to provide a set of N1 homologation papers, the only thing ever homologated here was the Group A GTR which is not really relevent. Its a bit of a hot topic in NSW combined touring car racing since (suprisingly) the commodores and falcons are having their arses firmly kicked :D

NO!... stick with the GTST, could not honetly say if its a case of pushing sh1t up hill using a 2L, 1250kg, RWD car for motorsport...but i need to believe the GTST can get the job done

I love GTRs, but i have only been in one car that made me think they are the way to go (TrustGTRs car)... but i think 300kgs weight difference is a big step backward before beign able to go forwards...then again i have driven an R33 GTST with a 2530 and i think it would have have the measure of a lot of GTRs on a circuit, but circuits a fair bit different to a tarmac rally event i suppose

How did the older GTRs do in the Targa, in their class did they finish well? Was speaking to a guy that ran a GT3 this year, he said the copnditions this year made it very hard for RWD cars, something like only 7 of the 18 GT3s entered finished, and 5 were written off (number sound about right do they?)

Considering i was reading an article on the release and subsequent comparison of the R33 GTR and VR GTSR Commodore, on on the tight twist, hilly roads, the GTSR was showing a clean pair of heels to the R33 because of the punch out of corners, and quick blats in gear. As soon as the orads became a little more flowing and high speed the GTR demolished the GTSR... dont know how reliable/independant the Australian journalsist were that wrote the article... ramble, ram, ble, ramble, i make no more sense behind a keyboard then i do in person

Isn't the main reason every GTR in a road-event is an 'N1' so they can run steel-blade turbos?

Gary (R32Impul) has a genuine R32 GTR N1 fi you want to ask him specifics.

There was an HPI article about it a while back too - but it was for the R33.

And I reckon Skyd would shreik in horror hearing I was considering jumping on the band wagon...

After Targa there is a huge let down, specially if you crash or DNF. In our case we put together a really good package, and I parked it against the bank.

Fact is I was having a red hot go because I was trying to be in the top 10 come end of day one... Car 814 (A Subaru AWD) was 28 seconds slower than me on Devonport (15ks We did 8:05) That same 4wd took 36 seconds off us in the Arrowsmith (47ks) in Wet slippery conditions.

The leading R32 was th Donut King entry of Alford and Best 13th o'all...

The advantage of the 4WD (any brand) is off the slow turns, where they can employ the point and shoot approach, our little girl is all about corner speed and we just cant get to the next turn as quick as them...

Anyhow we will try to sell and if not gone before August... we will saddle up again in 05. (My self mutilation is coming to an end) Maybe with an even better package.

The N1 specs allow 17" tyres, hence bigger brakes and a couple of other TT prerquisits. Steel turbines would be nice but not the be-all...

    • Yeah, this is one of the most annoying things about nissan part numbers... I've got an unrelated example... Image is of the AT output shaft ~ they have the same part#, but clearly the shaft on the left is beefier design to that on the right ...the difference (essentially) is the 'lighter' shaft on the right, is for engines up to RB25DE (this includes RB20 variants) : the shaft on the left is for RB25/26DET(T)....are they interchangeable? Yes...but obviously one shaft is going to be stronger than the other...and, the lighter shaft is around USD115, but the heavier shaft closer to USD150...same part#... ...epc-data usually tells a tale ~ the amayama listing for 39100-23U60 has a note "Longest side is between 60 and 105 cm" ; no such info is there for 39100-23U70 ...and given the great disparity in price between the 2 parts, it makes me at least curious (to the point of caution) where the 'extra money' went? ...ie; these 2 parts have a cost difference that (to myself at least) isn't explained by 'plastic boot'...ie; with amayama there's AUD700 price difference ...plastic versus rubber?...I'm not seeing it like that...and 60cm ~ 105cm...??...that's a huge disparity....something hinky going on here... I'd try searching by VIN, not model... /2cents
    • I don't know for sure, but I'd expect them all to be interchangeable given the diff end and hub end don't move/change between any C34 series. Often Nissan will change part numbers and the aftermarket follows those year ranges; but the original part number change doesn't mean other parts won't fit. The change could be a change in material, internal parts or even just supplier. For example, all the RB gearbox to engine bolts are no longer available and there is a new part number instead. The only change is they went from cadmium plated bolts to zinc plated due to the issues manufacturing with Cadmium. They look different but work the same.
    • One year is a bit concerning. Did you try contacting GSP? It says 5 year warranty on the box if I remember correctly. I'm also running their driveshafts on my S2 Stagea.   You could check the part numbers on Amayama for your year. Here's the link for my 1998 which gives the 39100-23U60 part number. Well, that and 39100-23U70. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/trans/391 What does it say for yours?
    • I ordered a GSP Front R/H Axle from here - https://justjap.com/products/gsp-premium-front-driveshaft-r-h-nissan-r32-r33-r34-skyline-gtr-stagea-4wd#description It lasted around a year before one of the boots blew out. I'm lowered, but I have GKTech roll center adjusters. One year seems a little premature. I think I'm going to spend the extra money on an OEM cv axle this time. This website - https://tfaspeed.com/collections/nissan-stagea-wgnc34-x-four-parts/products/nissan-stagea-awc34-260rs-rb26-right-front-axle-drive-assembly Makes it sound like the readily available OEM CV axle will only fit 11.1999 Stagea and up (mine is a 2.1997 S1). The JustJap listing didn't mention any years or anything for the GSP axle. Amayama shows '11.1999' and up as well for that part number. As well as 'plastic boot type'. See attached picture. So I guess my question is, does that axle (39100-23U60) really only fit S2 Stagea? It's the front driver side. If it does, I'd love to buy that instead of rolling the dice on another GSP. I've found that OEM one cheaper here: https://www.partsfornissans.com/oem-parts/nismo-jdm-r32-r33-r34-skyline-gtr-r32-gts4-right-front-axle-3910023u60 and here https://www.nissanparts.cc/oem-parts/nismo-shaft-ft-drive-3910023u60 Just a little confused because the JapSpeed listing for the GSP front driver axle doesn't mention any specific years or anything and it fit my S1 Stagea fine. So will 39100-23U60 fit my S1 Stagea even though technically it says '11.1999' and up? What would have changed? Thanks.
    • Thanks for the info. The only "Issue" I've had with the shifter is I always found the throw between 4th and 6th gear too close. I'm always worried to shift into 4th accidently and sending my motor to the moon. Adam LZ recently came out with a video and stated Serialnine revised their shifters to correct this and will change all the revised parts for 150$. Strangely enough, I contacted Serialnine right after and they denied it and said it's bullshit. I found that strange as he's a distributer. I'll keep this forum post updated on that saga.
