Streetbike_Tommy
Hey, I have been doing a serch on the topic, and found a few threads but nothing that really answered my question. My 33 has issues starting now. Batt is at 12v. Anyway, in the morning it will start, but I will drive it like 15 min to the servo, fill up, and then it wont start it just click click click. I get the ol jump starter batt pack out, and it will fire straight away. Would this be my starter motor? or just need new batt? Also, now it needs to be jumped every start, so could the issue have been starter, and now due to the extra load the batt has been under has now completly rooted the batt?? If it is the starter motor, is there any difference between 32 33 34 manual or auto starter motors? Mine is 33 auto. Thanks in advance. t_revz
Could be starter cables or alternator too. Need a multimeter to properly diagnose. Batt light ever come on? If your jump starting everytime now then Its probably the battery. But need further testing Edited July 2, 2012 by t_revz Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/403914-starter-motor-issue-car-wont-start-without-help/#findComment-6427074 Share on other sites
Streetbike_Tommy
Batt light comes on with all the dummy lights when ignition is on, but (once started) goes out straight away, and never comes on when driving. It is getting worse now. It started of just being slow start (and I was thinkg, shit gonna have to replace batt soon) but, now it needs jump start to start all the time, and now (it never used to) once started, the climate control will be offand the stereo would have reset (but the standard clock still keeps time).... Streetbike_Tommy
Chasers are going to put a multimeter on it later in the week to determine the issue..... fingers crossed its just a batt that has just gotten worse and worse! t_revz
Sounds like it. You wouldn't lose climate control and stereo if it was a starter. Streetbike_Tommy
Well, I couldnt wait until Thurs, (although I am still going to get Chasers to check the starter and alternator), went to a good year and they did a batt check to find it was dead as a door nail, put new batt in, bang, car started instantly, no straining or anything. Pretty happy, $125 AC Delco maintenance free!! Cheers for the help. Streetbike_Tommy
Yep, confirmed issue is batt. With a multimeter they proved that starter is fine and alternater is fine even with high beams and a/c running there was no voltage drop. So 100% batt. 040122
I had similar problems for a while, turned out to be the battery, I took a gamble and replaced the battery before getting a multimeter on anything but it was the battery Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/403914-starter-motor-issue-car-wont-start-without-help/#findComment-6432619 Share on other sites
