People with built motors - full disclosure when half the modifications in your car are illegal anyways does not make sense to me..

Theoretically if they are illegal your not covered anyway so anyone disclosing their boost controllers, turbo timers, ecu's, atmo bov's etc by insurance policies of accidents with unroadworthy modifications you too will not get a payout.

Pretty sad when you let price of insurance stop you form getting the car/bike/anything you want.

Settle with fire and theft, not at fault you will get paid out no matter what. If its a weekend warrior and not driving in constanst heave traffic it would work im your favour.

Even if you do have full comp, SOme prick does a hit an run, Or there not even insured, Your still coughing up your excess to pay for it, ANd half the time the excess is double the price of the damage.

again, disagree. Society and world finances are in the state it is because of greed, impulsitivty and always 'getting what you want'.

This is what ends up keeping people entrenched in debt, not actually becoming financially secure. You live beyond your means and you pay the price. Of course then these people whinge about it n how its society's fault they ended up in that situation. When really it was a matter of checking ur head, motives and consequences of actions before taking them.

otherwise the 3rd party/theft, as well as excess rationale here are equally flawed... Not giving you shit. JUst trying to get you to reevaluate the scenario and see what is truly your best options, both now and the consequences in years and decades...

Pity that Famous Insurance and Guild Insurance who used to insure grey imports, no longer do. Competition has become somewhat limited. ;)

You can still be covered by Dawes Underwriting (which used to trade as Famous, not sure what the relationship is now).

Not declaring mods is fraud, personally, i wouldn't go there. If you cant afford to do it properly, then you cant afford to do it.

hmmm living a bit beyond your means and being in debt are two diffrent things, Just like being poor, and having no money, Two very diffrent things.

im 21 and earn a little over $500 a week, did i really need to spend 25k converting my NA 33 into a 330 odd KW Rb26? No..... but thats what i wanted so thats what ive done,

Never paid anything on credit in my life, fair enough i dont piss my money up the wall every weekend so im happy to put it towards the car after food/bills are paid.

Why the heck should i change this due to insurance being to expensive,

Work hard and enjoy the things you work for. Being the yougest of majority of my mates being 5 years + older then me, Pulling beers at night after the daily grind just so they can afford a bag and a few drinks on the weekend, Then bithcing how they hate working so much and have nothing to show for it. Thats when its time to re evaluate.

Meh give me a nice car and empty wallet any day of the week :)

I also would like to know what people are doing with fully work cars that are street regoed.

The quote i got from just car, With buit motor, wheels, coilovers, ect ect, Listing everything, Was clost to $4,500 per year if i can remebr corectly, And that was taking the highest excess.

Insurance is peice of mind, and an expensive one at that. Heck, most of us have probly paid the value of our car twice over just in premuims, Not the mention the excess in the event of something happening.

Got a quote from just cars today

male 29yrs old, suburbs not the best for theft

1992 r32 gtr

mods:

Air Filter, Blow-Off Valve, Engine Internals, Exhaust, Turbo/S (Upgrade/Larger), New Computer/Ecu, Suspension Modified, Strut Brace, Boost Controller, Clutch, Fuel Pump, Flywheel, Injectors, Oil Cooler, Oil Catch Can, Pulley Kit, Fuel Pressure Regulator, Gauges, Immobiliser, Alarm, Keyless Entry

agreed value= $22000 claim excess= $400

Premium= $1260/yr

or with extra excess $1500 instead of $400

brings it down to $867

not too bad i thought....

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
