video of my fastest lap of the day.

pretty happywith the lines, was getting some bad understeer tho, think too much grip from rear. need semi's for front next.

got my PB just in time.

made it half way to shepp b4 the rear brakes gave up the ghost and went metal on metal

so need to fix them and a windscreen b4 HH.

Well you will want the semi's on the front before the diff then. As the diff will induce a little more understeer initially.

Looking at the list of stock cars driven by V8 supercars drivers:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Arff-ZXmabAZdEFEWHRXWU1BbW9VZVF1MFZQNnlHS1E#gid=1

I wonder how some of the cars on here would rank on that list if driven by a V8 supercar driver and how much of a time it actually makes.

FYI top of the list is a 1.32.10 by a 911 GT2 driven by Warren Luff

My 1:49 is equal time to a Volvo driven by Cameron McConville :P

You will be able to knock 3-4 second off that time with more track experience Tony. Add another 2-3 seconds for tyres and 0.5-1 seconds for a more aggressive wheel alignment.

That has you down in the 42's. Add a diff and more experience will have you under 40.

This is the best thing about being a newbie, you go to a track day and knock 2-3 seconds off your PB. While the rest of us jump up and down over 1-2 tenths.

Remembering I'm at a 38.1 with 210KW, RSR's and stock aero. That was with all of the above mentioned.

Yeah I get what you saying with newbs like me :D

But I was more so curious of what do you think would be the differences in times between the fast guys some as yourself/martin/Sam if one of the V8 supercar drivers where to take your car and belt it around the track.

I know the Boxer S isn't a massively fast car, but a 39. Same with the Z4 M. Would have expected a little faster.

I don't really care what a pro driver could do. It's down to the mug in the seat at the end of the day, the majority of that is seat time and coaching. Which the pro guys get a lot of, thus they are good. Hard to tell with car being different.

Andrew who is a good steer-er got a 38 with this 997 Turbo. Which is stock, while Luff got a 36.

Also, who knows what tyres are are using. A stock EVO VI going around the Island in a 53...I don't think so.

Brakes, not surprised, I thought they were toast at Sandown :) so what's up with Windscreen?

That roast looked gorgeous BTW.

Glad you all had a good day.

Amazing range of cars, even porsche drivers like walls.

Was fun reading this thread.

( next time ask me to lunch .. Winton food is ;-( )

New wrx motorsport team isnt as organised as the old one , so sign in and scrutineering cause late starts.

Anyway

Dont forget next years CAMS sprint series.

Will be 2 at PI and 2 at Sandown ( running CAMS state level events at Winton is just to hard/expensive)

Plus a national event @ PI in November.

We (CAMS organising commitee) have asked wrx to run one of the PI ones.

It will be a blast.

HELP........

I need to get the club Marquee to DECA.

If you have a ute or wagon and towing a car to Shep have you room.

I can drop it off at your place tomorrow.

Give me a buzz 0433419707.

Wayne..

Hey Wayne,

How big is the marquee? I can possibly put it in the back of my stagea, I'm going up Friday night so let me know.

I'm located in the western suburbs though...

This post is meant to be in the deca thread i believe :-P

  • 3 weeks later...

ya take capacity

for turbo multiply by 1.7 and that capacity

thre a few things

rotory is 1.5 so a rotor turbo is capacity *1.5 * 1.7

diesel is 0.8 multiplier think hybrid is similar.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
