I don't know much about skylines and just wanted to find out if it will hold its value or be worth more in years to come . I can buy it for $20,000 . From reading off the GTR Owners Club (GTROC) a forum member has one.

He being one of the owners of the 163 Tommy Kaira 25R's built.

Due to it being a rarity, $20,000 would be about the going price (GTR would be a different price)

I'd say it would hold it's price but could be justified to have a higher value for years to come.

But must be kept in a mint condition.

Have a search on here for what the compliance plate codes mean

If its manual it could have had a conversion done which means its no longer original and not worth as much IMO.

If it looks like that it's a good start anyway

Finding information about most niche Jap performance gear from the late 90's early 00's on the net is pretty difficult. There's a page on the 25R in HyperRev 37 (GTST/GTT no.2) and an article in the Skyline GTS special edition of HPI.

Quick google jp search has netted some possibly useful results.

Floating around Minkara pages should be able to tell you some stuff too.

Just wondering now (after looking at web) was gunna buy this car thinking it could make good money in years to come but now I'm wondering $20000 could be all it's worth . Also I have to spend some money on it getting tuned and tidy up as its been sitting in a shed for the past few years . If I buy it could it be a good investment in 20yrs time

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
