Heya Everyone!

Well tis the season for mobile phone shenanigans by the looks of things!

I hopped out of my car yesterday and my phone has hit the chair and..... wel.....l has died. It won't turn on any more!

Well anyway i pay about $6 per month on top of my mobile phone bill with VODAFONE. I should be able to claim it on insurance yeah? Kinda like if i crash my car i can claim insurance, well i think if i crash my phone i should be able to claim my phone.

Is that ok? or do i have to say that it's stolen or lost? i think for 4 years worth of insurance it shouldn't be a prob, but you know what people are like they will prob find a way to get out of it!

yep thats what insurance is for - they will either fix it or replace it....

with optus insurance if you have had the insurance without a claim for longer than 24 months there is no excess, if 12 months i think 50$ excess, if < 12 months i think 75$ excess

damn guys

If you have contents insurance you should be able to get an extension on that called valuables or portable insurance..

It cover various items for around $40 or so a year and will cover for accidental loss or damage around australia...phone getting annoying and bulky "lose it" and claim it

*this practice is not endorsed by me personally or the company i work for* tee hee hee

ok i work for a mobile carrier and no this stuff back to front.

If the handset (not the contract) is less than a year old, its covered by manufacturer warranty so use that.

If its outide that one year... do the following.

1. take it to a voda store... get them to check it out and they will confirm it dead.

2. Get the ccu (Customer claims unit) number fromo the store or customer service.

3. Ring CCU and advised them of the cause and that you have taken it to store and they confirmed it as dead.

The CCU will then give you instructions on what u need to do next... what paper work needs doing etc etc and will then either a) direct u to a store to pick up a handset or b)send you a replacement.

AWESOME!!

Thanks guys for all your help!, Messiah I will do just that!

Will keep ya posted as to how i go!

Just thought you know with insurance companies these days, if they can get out of it they will:

"sorry sir how far down did it drop? becuase if it drops past 31.58cm on a 48degree angle you are not valid for a new phone".......

Well I accidentally squashed my 8310 in between the driver's seat so the cover is cracked and the LCD has gone dark at the upper RH corner. If excess is around $150 I wouldn't bother as new 8310 like mine goes for about $150 on Ebay these days...

Good thing is my contract is coming to an end in about a month or so, so time for another $1 new phone + plan

Heya Guys!

Well i didn't go for the insurance in the end but all is well!

I ended up going for the Ericson T310 or what ever it's called the one with the camera and stuff! looks cool!

To claim insurance was $150 excess but instead as i was out of contract they gave me a free phone and put me on contract again so in the end not too unhappy! the phone looks pretty cool! Man i am goin to take some nasty pictures with my camera this weekend! ahahah!!!

Oh and thanks R33 Impul!

My old phone is still buggered it's an 8250 it won't turn on.... do you how much they go for second hand.... i have pulled the thing apart but requires a bit more than a clean and shake, if you are good at getting into things and know someone who wants an 8250 perhaps if ya fix it we will go halves in whatever we sell it for?

Thanks for all the help and info today guys! it has been much appreciated! will have to take some photos of our rides next time i see yas!!

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
