Dave, Sure I could put a set of cams in, and make alot more power, but I just wanted to show that it's not necessary to make decent power and not run out of puff at 6500rpm. I'll do an 11sec pass with stock cams just for you;)

No need to show anyone the engine doesn't run out of puff at 6500rpm with standard cams, thats a silly thing to show people. Not like my rubber chicken, now thats worth people seeing.

I'll be pleased enough to see you run a 12 Paul  I know how long it has eluded you mate. Oh well at least you car has done a time 0.3 seconds quicker than my old stocker, I never thought I'd see the day :D Wait a minute I'll call the guy who has my car now and get him down the drags for a 12' before the season ends so I have another 6-7 months to hang it on you before you get a chance to go again :(

On that note i'd almost hazard a guess you are Ben Ellis as i was thinking about his R34 GT-T, yet you say "your" suspension setup.. curious

Not that "curious" really, I do consulting enginering from time to time and one of my jobs was to engineer aftermarket suspension for R34 GTT's to suite Australian conditions. The black one was was the first in Sydney that we could get a hold of for any decent period of time , so I did the intial work on it. Then I did futher set up work when they were stuck and couldn't get it to run consistent times. Hence "my suspension set up".

I keep saying in numerous posts that there is far more than max engine power involved in running a good time (1/4 or lap). This is just another example.

i was refering to Nittos wheni mentioned slicks as they are a semi slick tyre as oposed to a standard street tyre ala pauls

The nittos are still radials tho', can drive them around corners and things.

Otherwise I could hang it on Paul for using tyres wider than 205's and in a brand more expensive than simex to do his 13.0..... wait a minute I usually do :D

It's all relative. If its a street tyre then let it through to the keeper.

My GTR runs 12.0@119mph and paul pulls away on the road.

I dont believe this to be a statement which can reflect its potential. When i had my Skyline (During the period which it went 120mph) i raced another car on the street (which had gone 125mph at the track) i pulled car lenghts on it easy.

100% street driven, full trim, tru street tyres, street exhaust. street tune truly as driven and road legal.Pump BP fuel no additives no extra boost than used dailey driven around 1000kms a week inc every cruz. And still win every Dyno comp in WA inc Cabin,504kw by the way.Ask John munro bout this car and see it on the front cover of Zoom very soon.

Please Steve don't take my questions the wrong way in no way am I having a go at you or the car, Its just that I've noticed you post true street car a few times and wondered what you mean

So the likes of myself (11.7 on nittos) and gotboost (11.5 on full slicks) aren't true street cars because we change our tyres?

Or even Leewah I guess as he'd use different fuel and tyres (i am only guessing this though)

nah not the 11.5 the best he's done on the nittos is 11.67, the bastard pm's me everytime he beats my time hahaha

But what I asked was going off what Steve said we're not true street cars whether its nittos or slicks because we change things for the drags

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
