Don't get overly wrapped up with the Warranty stuff. Its provided by a 3rd party company, and allocates money for specific areas of the car- example, for some bizarre reason the whole gearbox/transfer driveline just shits itself (it won't don't worry) the Warranty company will provide $X000 towards the repair, but not necessary all of the money. When I bought the car, I had the option of having the warranty, which I declined. If its free, I guess its a win, but still 2 years on, nothing has gone on my car which would be a warranty issue. So its not Factory warranted or anything. Plus, if something goes wrong with it, Ben is really good with fixing stuff up as long as your not a dickhead about it- like the RX7 owner I saw one day.

I got mine imported by Iron Chef and it was to be the test mule for Japlink (didn't turn out that way unfortunately).

I talked with Ben @ Northshore about importing one for me but he wouldn't give me upfront fees/charges etc and I know how much he has charged others in the past to import M35's.

Kris was upfront with all charges and went above and beyond what I expected from my broker.

Would use his services again without hesitation.

Japlink can do PM35's (they did mine) and it looks like All Imports are advertising PM35's as well.

I do not believe that Nagoya can comply PM35's but they may be selling them with either Northshore or Japlink doing the compliance?

If I had my time again I'd go the Iron Chef route. Everyone I know who has gone that way has got an excellent car for significantly less than I paid.

Wont the Import route take around 4-6months to be able to sit in the drivers seat?

Means I would have to start negotiating now and possibly put a downpayment on something witch im not in the position to do now.

Im trying to sell my van this month and the next service due (January) on my hatchback is the Belt Timing and thats going to cost 1/2 the value of the car so thats why im getting my stagea early in Jan.

If I cant shift the van within a month then i might even just do a trade in for a stag or wholesale it.

Shouldn't take 6 months, but it depends on how long it takes to find the perfect car.

Mine went through auction mid/late December last year and ready to be complied in Feb.

Compliance should only take a couple of weeks.

The delay on mine (before certain people chime in :mrt: ) was waiting for Japlink to get the compliance cert.

Is the main issue for not wanting to buy again the price or are there other factors involved?

    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.

    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
    • Just one thing; tapping tapered threads is tricky. Taps are always tapered and you would generally run it as far as you can, but with a tapered thread you have to stop much sooner otherwise the wide part of the taper will run in too far and you will have to thread the sensor in too far too as well (possible that it will never make a good seal) BTW nice wide wheels, I guess the top one is for the back!
    • Welp, good to know. Will have to wait awhile until steady hands with drills and taps are available. In other news, these just arrived! I will weigh them for posterity. Edit: 11kg each (or 10.9/11.1 depending on what my scale decides over multiple tests, the 18x11 don't seem to weigh noticeably any more than 10.5)
