This morning I parked my car alongside the parklands in Nth Adelaide, as I have done many times, but when I went to get my car this afternoon (to drive home) some asshol* has gone around my car with a screwdriver or set of keys.

I am F*ing furious, if I ever find out who I'll kill them

Sorry I just have to vent my spleen here, I just don’t understand the mentality of these people.

On the good side I am insured (with Shannon’s) so the damage can be repaired, but I guess I will be without my car for a few weeks.

I just feel so violated. I don’t want to drive the car anymore now, somehow it feels dirty (if that makes any sense)

I'm beginning to think the car should only be taken out for cruises and shows, which means I would miss out on driving one of the best cars day to day.

I like to look after my car and would hate to think its a trailer queen, but after this I think I might invest in a little festiva for day to day driving and save the skyline for the weekend.

I've been pretty lucky with regards to keying..

If I take it places and park I will try to not wash the car as in a way I hope it will discourage people from stealing or keying it.

I would say they are some dero kids that have HRT crap plastered all over their walls.

I don't like the city.. Last time I parked up that way a few years ago I had some pissed magget kick my door as I was leaving because I wouldn't do a burnout. :D

Then next thing I know all these people walked out from the shadows surrounded the car and began throwing beer bottles, punching windows etc.

That was the first weekend I took the car for a drive. :)

If you can wait until the end of the month I'm getting my car back from a full respray from MEC crash repairs down at Lonsdale.

Apparently they have the only computerised Infra Red Robot spray booth in SA which measures paint thickness and also allows them to bake the paint at a higher temp as there are no people inside the booth. Gives a factory glass *Mitsubishi sytle* finish *Apparently*

I didn't say Holden as I think factory holden paint jobs look crappy up close.. Mitsi paint jobs are the best i've seen.

Depends if you can hang out that long.

They are also on Shannon's recommended lists.

Some time (a year or so) ago were u and your car in at RPM and made some where around 160rwkw? I remember speaking to a bloke while the 4 door was on the rollers?!?

Joel - thanks man. I havnt been to RPM for dyno work, only been to Tilbrooks and MorePower. I'll look into going to MEC, but I cant wait until the end of the month. I was considering going to Des Higgins in salisbury/parafield who paints Rolls Roice and other prestige cars (I have never heard of anyone speak poorly of his work)

One benifit of shannons is that they allow me to pick the repair shop rather than go to the cheapest nasty shop they can find, so at least the repair job should be of reasonable quality.

I'm not sure that I would be happy with any factory paint job, as I figure they are pained to a price rather than a quality. (I may be wrong, but measuring the thickness of paint seems to be a way of reducing the price rather than improving the quality.)

I would be interested in the Shannons recommended list however as I guess (and I may be wrong) these repairers do a qualty job.

Thanks Dean. Yes I will get it all painted one colour now, as I'm not that keen on the 2 tone effect. my guess is however that I will have to pay extra to get the bottom gunmetal grey painted, but it is a good opportunity.

P1E it would be a good time/reason to add a body kit but I’m a bit strapped for cash at the moment so I will probably have to wait and get that later.

COPYME, at least you had the opportunity to show the guy exactly how funny it was.  Alot more than most victims get, but good on you for showing him the light.

Well, i think it was a case of his lights going out he he. Little ****er! Just lucky timing! My GTR seems to be left alone "touch wood" How bad are the scratches anyways? could they be buffed out?

That really sucks “Mr Harrison” (sorry can’t break that habit)

When I was working there I had my pulsar keyed same location as you, and my trusty sigma was broken into and had $2500 worth of stuff stolen, no insurance, no alarm, no brain really. I learnt from that error.

Good luck catching the bastard but the main thing is you still have the car and it’s insured :)

CopyMe - the scratches are too deep to buff out, I tried to clean some of them up when I got home, but its a lost cause.

Melissa - Thanks, but next time could you put your hand up if you have something to say ( Sorry - another habit thats hard to break :-P )

4door -

That sucks heaps. Just recently my brother and his mates chased and managed to catch some dude breaking into a mates car not long ago at TTP, from what I heard the thief will have a life long memory of what club locks and a big Maglite torch are really made for

Hope if you ever catch the person or see someone else's car being scratched you will get some satisfaction in kicking the crap out of them

Sorry to hear your car has been damaged like that

How where Shannons about the whole thing? I am just about to switch from them and any input would be appriceated

Regards, Chris

Hi Chris

Shannons have been really good so far. That said I wo'nt here back about the quote and wether they accept it until the end of the week (Not a delay due to shannons, but just a busy week for the assessors)

I have a $400 excess to pay (because I cant identify the guilty party) and I need to ring them and check if my rating will be preserved as I have been rating 1 for more than 3 years.

That and the fact that they allow monthly payments (without a penalty - ie premiup divided by 12 = monthly payment) I intend to renew with them again.

    • Dear folks My family members have 4 different cars : Triton 2015 and Corolla 2011 and Mazda3 2012 and Hyundai Elantra 2014 Looking to buy engine oil funnel spill free What I found are are below  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BBTTJNKX?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image&th=1 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145553221359?srsltid=AfmBOoqYBU6Ptw0LU_bAp_k67U3qkF97HHvePkA7iHZw8vUmiwoIRaRr https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X23TCS5?th=1 Is there a funnel with attachment that fits most cars ? Don't mind to spend for a decent quality  Thx
    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
