Hey guys,

My partner hit her V36 while she was parking (pressed accelerator instead of brakes). We got in touch with two nearby repair shops who gave us the attached quotes and said similar things like heating up the bumper to fix it and then repainting it. Also, one of the grills broke but it's not that obvious so they said it would be up to us if we want to fix it or no. If anyone knows a good repair shop in Sydney (we live near Chatswood) then please let me know!! She does not have comprehensive cover at the moment.

Also, I wanted to ask what tyre pressure's usually recommended for 2008 V36 Skylines? We have got Dunlop tyres (245/45ZR18) on which it says max pressure should be 35 but on the car itself there's a sticker which recommends 34 for R19's. When we checked the pressure the other day it was 38 (we have had it for about 3 months now) and my partner panicked and brought it down to 32.

Any reply/advice would hugely appreciated. Thanks so much!

$30,000+ car and no comprehensive insurance???

On a more constructive note, I run 32 psi on my 19's at all times. If she tested them after driving around for a while then its possible that they went up to 38 from 35. Way to high in my opinion though. Always check the tyre pressure when the tyres are cold.

Bump!

Would appreciate any decent repair shop recommendations in Sydney guys :(

Also, does front and rear tyres need to have same or different pressure? I just spoke to the compliance workshop that sold me the tyres and the guy is saying that I should put it back to 38 psi (although it's written max 35 psi on the tyres itself).

Really confused..

I recommend my beater whom I've dealt with since the old man had the Maxima. Cullens Smash Repairs in Auburn - 9748 1820.

Top job and as for price, no idea since I have comprehensive insurance. I strongly recommend you pull your finger out and get yourself comprehensive insurance too. You never know when you might hit that Ferrari one day or if some uninsured twat hits your prized possession.

I run 38psi all day everyday on my 19s and 18s. Pretty sure you are reading it wrong on your tire. Its probably saying don't inflate more than 35psi when mounting the tire on the wheel.

How did your partner manage to damage the front and rear when accidentally pressing the accelerator instead of the brakes?

Those quotes look fairly reasonable if its for front and rear repairs.

No woman should be driving an expensive car without comprehensive.

Anyways, prices you have been provided look reasonable considering a brand new bumper is $800 ex. and a 2 months wait. If you are willing to spend some money maybe upgrade to the sports bumper.

My 19's run at 36psi probably should run it slightly higher, I'd say for 18's like yours maybe 34-36psi.

Cullens Smash repairs deal with prestige cars so they should be good as recommended by Max.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
