Hey guys,

Haven't really introduced myself but i've been posting/lurking around here for a few months now.

Long story short I had an 06 WRX and went through the various modding stages with medium-loud exhaust and now i'm over that :P. Going to join the VIC club and i'll make an intro post there when I pick up my car and join.

Recently purchased and will be picking up an r34 gtr vspec (as pictured to the left) and will soon be looking to change the exhaust.

I've only seen one person with the HKS Super Turbo exhaust (not going to name him but he's welcome to post up here and say who he is :P).

Been searching around for the exhaust but can't really find anything, got a good review from him and will probably soon go meet up and have a listen/look at it. Really i'm just looking for multiple opinions & experiences; the mid muffler and oval muffler design is something i'm looking for. Clean look, good quality, and good price on RHDJapan for 1.5k inc postage (can't find it anywhere else for sale that i'd trust)

I want something that is fairly quiet with good flow and future proof for when i change turbos and so on (which this exhaust seems to be). I just can't really find any info/experiences of it.

Anyone is welcome to suggest other quiet-ish exhausts they know of of decent quality in the 1-2k bracket (cat back).

Edit: Would really love a Weldina NE-1 but they seem to be a bit too hard to find.

Thanks.

Iv heard it before and it is quiet for an off the shelf exhaust. Flow wise I have no idea and haven't really found much info when researching different system. Iv bit the bullet and ordered a Racepace system, it does cost a little more but it's quiet and proven. In my opinion it's worth the extra money as its a great system and looks almost stock too. Living in Melbourne it's a worthy investment!!

How much did the racepace system cost?

Can't find much on it apart from fully built cars by them, it's custom made right? Pretty sure I read it was some time ago.

Yes it's full custom system all 3.5 inch or 4inch depending what you want with custom mufflers, doesnt shrink down anywhere and its really quiet.

Best to call them and have a chat regarding price etc.

A 3.5 inch I had to look at the tacho to see if it was on. That was on a fellow SAU members R34.

Amazing. I will definitely have to check out these setups at some VIC meets. Do you know how many mufflers/resonators it had?

Hi Guys,

My set up is as follows...

Stock 2.6 bottom end

HKS 2530's

Nismo Dump Pipes

Power House Amuse Ti Down Pipes (3.5" outlet)

High Flow 3.5" in 3" out Metal Cat

WAS: Tomei Expreme Ti Cat Back

NOW: HKS Super Turbo Cat Back

A few notes...

- Both systems have an 80mm entry which then steps up to 85mm within the first inch

- Both systems then run 85mm pipe work the rest of the way

- Both systems run a 2 muffler design, however the Tomei mufflers are MUCH smaller

With the Tomei the car made...

391.9rwkw @ 22psi

349.6rwkw @ 19psi

It is going to be very interesting to see what power it makes with the HKS Super Turbo system on the car.

I am just waiting for Racepace to have some free time for me to head down there and get the car back on the dyno for a few power runs.

As soon as I have done this I will report back.

    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
