3rd party fire and theft only really covers for up to $6000 in case of theft, minus excess, so its not really worth having if ur car gets stolen. $5000 wont get you much of another R34 Gtt.

Try ringing up some insurance companies maybe...their quotes are free and tehyll give you an exact price? or searching previous threads as this topic has been discussed numerous times...

i know for a fact its not $3k lol its $4k+ for comp

Then you have to pay excess if you ride the car off which equates to around $3k therefore its gonna cost you in the 1st year if u were to ride your car off $7k or in the second year $11k and so on

3rd party fire and theft is the way to go..be basically around $700

These are rough prices...like i said ring just cars etc and theyll give you a quote in 10 minutes

As u probably know mate, it's "super hard" to be "super careful" with a car that has some power. I rang around when i was buyin and the only ppl who would touch me were just cars and was quoted around $5000ish for a 32 turbs. In 2 and a bit yrs time i could have bought a new car!.

i ended up chucking on a real good alarm setup and goin with 3rd party ($375 and this year $312 with fmic, exhaust, bst cnt). In my opinion... you should get a real nice r32 with 3rd party and bide time untill ur insurance rating gets better then go for the r34.

an r32 on 3rd party is an acceptable risk but an r34 at say $30k+... is not. remember just because a crash isn't your fault it doesn't necesarily mean u'll get any compensation. insurance companies do not give a shi+ unless u have full comp... and the bogan who hits you probably wont have any insurance and no money anyway (hypothetical).

i agree with astroboy bout the price. if you don't have any insurance history it doesn't really make too much difference how old you arethey still charge a DOG load.

but if you can get an r34 turbs insured for $3000 that's not too bad. your insurance should drop significantly the next year too if you don't make any claims.

I would have thought so about the super careful bit...

so you reckon R32 w/ 3rd party then, after P's > R34 full comp. Sounds like a good idea...

I didnt know that:

"your insurance should drop significantly the next year too if you don't make any claims."

i thought it was constant, but then again...i guess there is much i dont know about...

thanks hayai32...

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
