damage via ceva is a lottery

trucked a rangey from wa and all 4 corners were damaged, shipped the alfa 8c from syd and they used a closed transporter with zero damage - lost sleep on that move as that car is irreplaceable

there is a guy who advertises in unique cars, and ive been told he's the best to use....but natch not as cheap as ceva

re camera, i had the oem clarion camera (japan dealer option and completely plug n play) but picture quality was dreadful. i now have a kit i bought off a nagtroc vendor (http://www.carkitcompany.com/) which is plug n play, but requires you to get behind the mfd screen - he also supplies instructions to set the grid pattern values up

ive had cars with the camera in the mirror, location is brilliant but ultimately the screen is too small

▲ nah mine took about the same time to syd

driving it would be way worse! plenty of stone chips and what not! is an awesome drive tho! have done it twice

Good to know the 3-4 weeks is normal from East to West coasts. No doubt they take their time, as well as the train transport from WA to Melb isn't a daily thing from what I know.

12 month, 20,000kms manditory service on mine today. Supposed to be about $800 (eeek) all up inc materials.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry for the delay guys, moved house last week and didn't have access to the internet until today.

Picked up the car last week from CEVA in Sydney. Was in great condition no scratches, kms were fine. Looked like they had given it a quick blast with a high pressure water cleaner and when that dried it was a bit dusty. I am getting it fully detailed, corrected and opti coated this week. (http://www.autopia.org/forum/click-brag/143190-speedfreak-detailed-2013-gtr-full-correction-opti-coat-full-front-film-install.html)

Have done around 600kms since I picked it up and loved every minute of it. Will be doing lots of "test" drives over Christmas.

I got the camera from the car kit company thanks Dom, just have to install it.

It's brutally fast out of the box, easily twice as fast as my old E46 M3. Surprisingly it doesn't ride too bad in comfort mode, I had PSS9 Bilsteins on the M3 and the ride is comparable.

Picked up my blue plates and put them on yesterday as well, after the reverse camera goes in I won't be doing any other mods for awhile.

Here are some pics: (tried to direct link them but it wouldn't let me)

full sun shots, exact angle/lighting post paint correction shot, no where really to hide there - looks like a very good job! (unlike some who post the befores and then go for the easy 'reflection' shot afters).

exhausts look great too!

Got it detailed and opti coated today. Here are the pics:

Looks so much better now.

Looks really good! will be very keen to see how it all goes with the coating etc.. It's nearly time for mine to be detailed again, so may consider this as an option, and being local is very handy.

How much did you pay for the car and how many klms?

~$159k (from the same dealer I got mine - Magic) - was watching the $ drop over the last year on carsales

500kms as noted on the first post of this thread

Opti-coat is the beez kneez. Mine was coated just over 12 months ago, and it still repels water like the first day it was done. The paint correction is the key, and these guys have done a great job on the blue.

    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15
    • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
    • 8.5 +37 = should fit rear, but I think it'll hit on front. What you want is low 30s/high 20's front, mid 30's rear. That 17" screenshot you posted looks good, I'd run it on my R32 (but that's long dead now). For tyre sizes, my rule of thumb is: 8': 235, 9": 255. But that's just my opinion. Nismo sizes: 18x8.5+35/18x9.5+38 is a good starting point.
