timmy_89
Hi all, I've done a bit of searching but can't find much that is R34 specific with diffs. Apologies if something similar has been covered before... I've recently started having troubles with my diff and have been looking for what replacement options there are. I am going to change my diff oil first just to rule out that, I don't know when it was last changed and the car has 150k kms on it so I'm hoping there is nothing major wrong and this will help. But looking at the worst case, I am thinking of getting either a 1.5 way or a 2 way. Can anyone point in the right direction or where to get some pricing and good places to buy from? I will most likely buy online, and have fitted professionally locally. The main brands I see around are Kaaz, Nismo and OS Giken. What would the best brand be to look at? The car is a weekend warrior (that I'm hoping to take to the track eventually), so I'm not concerned about daily annoyances that a 2 way diff may give me. But I'm open to pros/cons about which way to go. Thanks for all help Tim Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414217-r34-gtt-diff/ Share on other sites
GTSBoy
How much power? Places to buy. Nengun. RHDJapan. + lots of others no doubt. Nismo are well thought of around here. timmy_89
Hi, Currently around the 220rwkw mark. Plan to push up to the 300 mark in the future though. What are the advantages/cost of going 2 way over 1.5 way? Cheers. GTSBoy
Not heaps. 2 way provides roughly the same LSD action under decel as it does on accel. 1.5 way less so. This will result in more trailing throttle/turn in understeer, but the transition from trailing to accel will be more positive. This is more predictable, hence why better for track work. Less good for road simply because more annoying with the bumping and shuddering and so on. timmy_89
What oil would people suggest using in the standard diff? Or at least what is the standard oil? Also, how much does the standard diff take? Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414217-r34-gtt-diff/#findComment-6649816 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
Any typical normal diff oil will do. It's just gears in a bath. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414217-r34-gtt-diff/#findComment-6649969 Share on other sites
