I went through the pits at dickson today and i got knocked back due to not having an "engine tune up sticker" also for not having an english owners manual and i need all the japanese stickers replaced with english stickers.

Does anyone know where to get a tyre placard in english for the r32 gtr?

They also asked for me to provide stock track measurements from nissan

Seems as if the pits are having a bad day today. I can't be of help, however, I'm interested to know what the "Engine tune up sticker" is for and why you need it?

WHAT? dude wow. Fk Dickson. Half of that isn't possible to get.

when I took mine in, I had a replacment sticker made up re the wheel info (drivers 'B' pillar). Nissan should be able to provide you with any generic under bonnet stickers.

you should still be able to get the PDF of the owners manual somewhere. I've only got a printed workshop manual at home. honestly I fail to see how an owners manual is required - most second hand cars don't have them...

This might sound stupid. But is there nowhere else to take the car apart from Dickson?

Not for Interstate cars. Dickson is the only place :( A few people will tell you that any certified mechanic can do the inspection but be prepared to do it again at Dickson. Also, Dickson is extremely known for 'Not knowing their stuff'. I would probably suggest for you to take it in, get what needs to be fixed (Ignore the stupid stuff that you know is correct - A few to mention. UV Glass gets mistaken for tinted glass - UV Glass is factory - legal. BOV being plumed back - they will claim it's not when it is. I wouldn't argue it) but on the 2nd time bring back paper work from a mechanic or Nissan saying it is factory or "plumed back" this is normally free but some may charge for it( this is not a mechanic cert).

Also, the list of fixes that they supply is only valid for 31 days - so get that list completed ! haha

Helga and I are very familiar with Dickson now :( Rosie is up next !

They better not call back my car. Otherwise im fooked.

From July 1st all imports must go through dickson motor registry, they are cracking down pretty hard at the moment and recalling imports back again to make sure they stay "roadworthy"

Pretty sure it's not optional...

When do you get your car back Chris?

Potentially the end of the week, otherwise next week. They'll call me later this week with an update :D

only a small percentage of cars on the roads are NOT imported - do they intend to check every BMW, Toyota, Hyundai??? or, are they are only interested in grey imports...

where is the policy statement about that? talk about harassment, I'd be contacting the media and putting it around on the forums if that's the case. I have mine inspected yearly and fail to see how it can't be roadworthy given I do less than 100km a year.

is it out with Chris? drive past everyday and have noticed it amoungst the endless porsches... looks nice and clean :)

It is. A little diamond in the rough out there eh! Hahaha!

He better not be leaving her out in in the rain, she was clean!!!

Fark that's tight.

crap -. I don't know what an engine tune up sticker is, I don't have an English owners manual, no jap sticker or English in the engine bay.

and the Tyre placard in English has gone missing.

far out - tuff on you.

But what about the brakes, rim sizes, oil leaks, blinkers, seats, seat belts, child restraints, lights, decibels etc...

the other stuff is BS...

in other news had bay sprayed with engine in (cos it cost too much to remove to tidy up).

Used to be dull grey, now same as body colour (black lower firewall as easier)

the 2nd hand boot with 34gtr wing left to do and a touch up on drivers door.

Hopefully done before the weekend

The Coil Loom's connected to the... something. The something's connected to the... red thing. The red thing's connected to my wrist watch... Uh oh. :P

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
