Long time forum stalker, first time build thread.

Anyway picked it up earlier this year, was after a cheapish daily with minimal mods as im trying to save for a house. After searching through a few forums and good ol' gumtree found this within my budget.

Only downers were the 50 shades of quite badly faded paint and backyard bonnet paint job and shithouse wheels, but, its only a daily so didn't care much.

Drove it around for a while with no issues until a few weeks in could smell coolant quite badly and sourced it to the tiny hose under the plenum. Anyway changed that haven't had a cooling issue since.

Got a boot lip that I don't mind but the roof spoilers a bit average and needs to be pulled off and redone.

The drivers side mirror crapped out on me so I got some GKtech mirrors and a few other goodies at the same time.

Went and spoke to Andrew at AM performance on friday and hes going to whip me up some new cooler pipes cos quite frankly the ones at the moment are a pick n mix of random pipes an joiners.

Also going to get a solid intake pipe cos im pretty sure my rubber one is sucking itself closed. Will hopefully have them just after the new year :)

Solid intake pipe is the go mate!

Had the same problem with mine on hot days would suck shut and not be boosting properly, stock rubber one is poo.

Nice looking 4door mate, good job on the wheels

Yeh even cool the rubber one feels so soft.

Cheers!

Nice lil 4 door you got yourself.

Cheers mate, still needs some work but coming along.

Today chased up a miss it had for a while, ended up finding the wiring on #4 injector had split and was arcing out and that also the connectors that sit in the plug are loose and werent making contact with the injector properly so happy to have found that

Gunna start chasing a non hicas rear subframe soon and sort the rear end out

Still chasing some stuff and getting cheap stuff that i want/need when it comes up cheap. Changed my box oil to castrol vmx80 today as changes to second were a bit rough.

A bit of metal :whistling:

imag0541.jpg

Picked up a 32GTR strut brace and fitted that recently.

imag0542u.jpg

Tried to realign my cooler but its pos so gunna chase a new one soon, im annoyed at the turn flow style. When i had it off i noticed a lot of oil in the pipes so picked up a cusco catch can but theres no drain on it, so might drill a hole and tap a thread for ease when it fills up.

imag0544q.jpg

Also jus won some GTR sway bars on ebay so gunna pick them up tomorrow and if time permits fit them :)

Hey man na on engine runners course. Not sure yet, Yeh its in the shed, will prove throw the 25gb in first.

Reckon ill strip the 25 down and build it up proper but the 20 won't die, its knocking atm, thinking its due to the excess oil I have everywhere lol

How does the banana go after its tune?

oh yep fair enough man.

i suppose you could start collecting parts now for the 25 rebuild. How severe is the current donk knocking?

the canary car goes well, 1st is useless, second it skates about but 3rd is where the money is made. was hard to adapt to the lag and I had a massive exhaust f**k up the other day - forgot to do up the front pipe to cat converter bolts and one had fallen out

exhaust gasket was hanging down and as i was walking to the car i was like 'wtf is hanging down from the middle of my banana?'

anyway thats the reason my car got stupid loud stupid quick i suppose haha all fixed now though. with work-provided rtv :domokun:

Only knocking after about 5000 giving it the beans, thought it may have been leaning out up top? Gotta get it on the rollas and have a suss properly. Wanna get a hard intake pipe made too, so a few things to do yet.

Yeh sorta started getting a few little things for it, should probs start getting the bottom end sorted.

Yeh I got a few metres of braid and -an fittings to from work haha

  • 1 year later...

So it's been a while and looking at the thread all the pics have been deleted unfortunately. So bout time for an update.

Anyway, just drove the car for another 6 months or so while I saved for my first house so the car plans were put on the back burner.

Finally got myself one and the plans started on the car again!!

Bought a daily and parked the the 32.

Initial plans were to pull motor, replace coolant & P/S lines, 100k service and not much else.

Yep, lost all my smurfs blood out the back, doh!!

Subframe was next.

Thennnnn this happened. I didn't plan on taking it off, but I thought while its out, why not, lets have a look.

All in all I was pretty happy, considering I think the motors done close to 200xxx kms.

Next step was to start replacing gaskets and hoses. I've used all genuine Nissan hoses and gaskets bar the head bolts and head gaskets. I used Garage 7 and kudosmotorsport for everything.

eCPTPZf.jpg

XItfzaI.jpg

YggOaSd.jpg

I have a JJR dump for the new Hypergeart as well.

gf3AP64.jpg

Have now bit the bullet and have decided to paint the whole car as well. Not before remove this cancer and replace the front window. Which im assuming has cracked due to the rust there?

HU1E0qX.jpg

At the same time have started on sorting the rear end out.

V0aPpWw.jpg

Plans for the next few weeks will be finish motor off, clamps etc. Subframe bushes, paint subf and then refit knuckles bearings, shafts and new rear suspension, i.e new camber arms, HICAS delete, etc.

    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
