Gtr Rear Turbo Heatshield And Turbo Removal

Recommended Posts

REAR HEATSHIELD

im having lots of difficulty removing the rear turbo heatshield, theres the boost and water(?) lines connected to the bracket,

i cannot remove this line, to allow the bracket to slide out of the studs without snapping the lines, to allow me to reach the last bolt on the heatshield,

im also unable to remove the boost line for the waste gates as ive stripped the bolt, can i just cut this off and get silicone lines instead with a nipple that fits over the connection?

TURBO TO MANIFOLD BOLTS

ive undone 3 of the front turbo to manifold bolts, but cant get the bolt closest to the engine (top right bolt)

i could probably get a wrench to undo it, but the intake snout is in the way, do i have to remove it? cause ive tried and its very difficult....

if someone couldshine some light on some of the difficulties you have passed and how you overcame it, it would be very much healpful :)

Thanks :)

R32?

I pulled the whole water lines off from both turbos. There's a bolt that holds the bracket at the rear of the engine, on both sides of the engine. Take them out so you can lift the lines higher. After that, hope you have a small 13mm spanner to take off the dump. Once the dump is off it gets a bit easier.

Boost likes, mine had the pinch style clamps that you press with pliers, so you should be fine with silicon (or replace the clamp?)..

Front turbo looks impossible. Luckily for me only the rear turbo-manifold flange gasket was blown.

Can I get the bracket from the top or do I have to go under the car?

Yes it'd an r32 :)

I was wanting to change the hard boost line that comes off the fitting piece, cause I stripped the bolt on the fitting somehow?

I heard the dumps come off with the turbo?

Just undo the 4 front pipe bolts?

Support bracket is accessed from under car. Yes you take the turbo and dump out still bolted together. Yes front pipe it two bolts to each dump = 4 bolts total (actually they're studs and you remove the nuts).

From what i can remember any time you think you'll be able to avoid taking stuff off and still get the turbo out, you're wrong. Or to put it another way, anything you think may need to come off, will need to come off :)
