.....well i've had a few problems as mentioned in my Other Thread

I've been told to clean the AAC valve. Well i understand its located at the back of the plenum, and bleeds air into the plenum to maintain the correct idle speed.

But what exactly does it look like? (pics would be good)

and how do i go about cleaning and adjusting it or testing if its faulty.

never really knew about them till recently, so full detail would be nice. thanks

well i found this page http://www.gt-skyline.net/maintenance/aac.html which has some sort of description. Would another way of testing it be like an AFM where u can disconect it and see if it runs more stable? or what? and would that be with both plugs undone, i'm guessing its the same on the R32, haven't looked at mine yet as i'm at uni

That's a RB25 one. The R32 doesn't have the purple connector one.

It's held on by 4 bolts (10mm head). Simply remove them, remove any hoses and the electrical plug, and the unit comes out.

There are 2 phillips head screws that hold the barrel together, remove them and carefully remove the barrel. You'll then see how it all works. Spray with Car-b-clean and clean off, then reassemble and re-fit.

I've been having trouble with my AAC lately too, my idle has been ocnstantly at 1500rpm. i disconnected it then adjusted the screw to idle at 700rpm. i didn't reconnect it and the car runs fine without it connected, so im curious as to whether its stuffed.

well my problem ended up been the 'Air auxilary Valve', its basically located between the plennum and motor above the injectors and just below the the left of the throttle body. thats when looking from the drivers side of the car over the motor.

mine had messed up idle problems, hesitating etc and eventually came to a point that it was constantly idleing at 2,000 revs non stop.

Took it to a mechanic and they diagnosed it to the Air Auxilary Valve, which in turn controls the amount of air used when the engine is cold. And cos i haven't been able to find one as of yet, i've basically just bypassed it fully by blocking the valve up at both ends. i have issues when cold, but at least when it warms up the car runs and idle at a more consistant 800rpm that i've set it at with the idle control valve screw thingy.

the screw u turn is located at the side (facing u when standing on drivers side of engine bay) of the AAC valve. its a philips head screw ....

Well i had the same prob too it was shit thought it cause of my new zorst, but it was idling funny then constant at around 1600rpm so i took the aac valve off sprayed with a heap of wd40 and it worked at treat, but **** those little screws i droped one lucky i had a spare layin about.

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
