The cracking the light open was relatively easy.

I took the globes out. And I took all the seals and things covering the globes off. I left the rubber seal along the top of the light was just going to risk it but it was fine. There are several little screws surrounding the light which thread into the poly carbonate take those out as well. Then I put into a preheated oven at 180 degrees and put the hole light in for about 3 and a half minutes. Then pulled it out and with a flat head screwdriver started prying the headlight apart there are some little tabs you need to bend up whiled prying the lens apart. be careful not to disfigure the plastic too much. Once I had broken the seal enough I then proceeded to pull it apart by hand. And all done.

Yet to put one back together. But I plan on flowing the same method. But I'll just put the light in the oven with no lens. Then maybe add a little more sealant in some spots. Then push back together while everything is still hot.

Nah front end is in pieces ATM doing a bit of an overhaul. The process of pulling apart and sanding down took maybe an hour. Then paint took 5 mins but drying time I like to leave 2 days. Then 20 min to put back together. Nah no effect to light the important reflector piece is untouched.

This thread motivated me for a little holiday project on my lights, ever since compliance hacked mine up I haven't been happy with the output.

Spend a good 12 + hours today doing the blackout and projector retrofit to my lights. Bought the projectors from the retrofit source and I'm pretty happy with the results. They need some fine tuning (height) but couldn't be stuffed right now, they were pretty fiddely and required a bit of dremmeling of the housing. Fitted my aftermarket HID kit too.

Happy to post some light output shots if anybody is interested.

Cheers,

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
