Hi, I'm a new guy here, been lurking for a while but I'm here now. LOL.

Anyway, I've got a S1 auto 4WD 2.5T, and the handling is a bit poo. Nothing is broken or worn out, but it just understeers a bit. Now, I though the 4WD was like a GTR? Is it like a GTR or is the auto different. Are there any gadgety things I can fit to the 4WD to help the understeer? It's like there is too much 4Wd or something.

Thanks

yeah the standard stag does understeer under power which is pretty normal for a big, front heavy wagon.

Bigger rear sway bar e.g. Whiteline BNR11XX24mm

this is a great place to start, and I'd do the front sway bar as well. They really transform how the car feels because the factory bars are small for such a big car. I've also done shocks and springs later.

Once you fix the balance you will probably by happy with when it understeers and when it oversteers....

I've always wondered if those torque split controllers would work. It should work in a 32 but 33 & 34?

Most 4wd controllers only modify the standard system, and all of them can only add front wheel drive (or turn front wheels off completely), they can't reduce front wheel drive. There are a couple of expensive systems that replace the whole attessa system; they may be able to reduce fwd.

Thanks for the replys chaps.

Upgrade swaybar it is.

On the subject of 4WD controllers, have you heard of Skylab Fusion? There is a guy in the UK who has made the GTR ATTESA work for the Stagea. I don't know if anyone on here is a member of their club?

"guilty" as above

I now have the skylab fusion working on my series 1 .

I know the guy who makes the fusion in the UK and we spent quite a while working out how to get it to work.

To get the best of the system the cars handling needs to be better than standard , for example an lsd really helps ( a GTR one will Fit)

Mine also has a manual conversion and an RB26 but the fusion will work on any series one stagea

The fusion has much faster g sensors ( digital I think) and this includes lateral sensors which the S1 doesnt have.

Not surprisingly the stagea attessa ecu isnt able to deal with lateral sensor inputs as it doesnt have them. A GTR does so we looked at using a GTR attessa ECU.

The ECUs can be swopped - the pin out are the same although the wiring is different. With a GTR attessa and the fusion it all works and the results are really impressive.

It doesnt understeer !!!

It is a bit more complicated than a simple plug and play but certainly not beyond anyone as long as they understand basic wiring diagrams and can use a soldering iron.

I can do a thread about the conversion if people want to read it

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.

    • So 10/10 times that code is coil packs? I mean if that's the case ill drop the $400USD or so to replace them. I didn't know these cars threw codes before the issue became an issue.
