Took it for a wet street session last night, open diff, no handbrake was interesting, i got home and noticed my drivers side wheel poking. Somehow the hub bolts on bottom of coilover have come loose and moved back in under the stress of slideways and i'll have to try move them again and fix it up.

Yeah maybe so, but i've got everything i need now, just help from mates. Once we get turbo setup on, and intake side done, Fabulous fabrication will come do me a dump pipe and all cooler piping + new system and then i'll just get ECU and tuning done should be only 3 months hopefully haha. Only doing it as it will save me over a thousand dollars instead of paying someone haha, but yeah ill miss streeting

  • 3 weeks later...

so this weekend, measured up how much room roughly i have to fit turbo, where piping will have to go, and all that jazz!

Also got my lines for my turbo setup, all braided lines, with heat wrap and genuine speedflow fittings!

image2_zps47849eea.jpeg

Since my cars been hesitating since day one, we had alook at the fuel pump in the tank and found a majority of the problem! They cut the hardline to fit a bigger pump and the rubber line wasn't meant for fuel and just had seen better days, so went down to repco got free fuel line LOL and off we went! Its semi fixed now, cant still fully hit boost but hopefully be sorted this weekend, got new plugs, O2 sensor and can also borrow another S2 ECU see how it goes, as we want it 100% fixed before the overhaul.

IMG_0352_zpsa420bca6.jpg

also had to custom cut the rear to fit S2 lights, and they look baller! the pained the sections that had been cut with anti rush paint.

well been a while since i updated

1530516_681604331859656_1158799052_n_zps

basically took the covers off the rb25 to look at the internals and cams were scored, pretty bad
1530394_10201292972232535_1767760117_n_z
1530474_10201292973632570_1939446070_n_z

so then decided id get a reco head, im going to be pushing 300+ kw and dont want to have shitty internals. Bought a recod 25 head, with oil feed tapped in for 25/30 build, contemplated it but yeah didnt.
1533321_10202087805709087_1101869205_n_z

anyway, later on that day we took the head off completly and well....

1551488_681953098491446_2074011098_n_zps

pistons scored, piston walls not good nic either. I was pretty pissed at this stage, anyway then i was like well bottom end rebuild was on the cards, got some figures and it wasnt feesable ( just lost my job @ start of new year )

anyway, had some money still cause im an amazing saver, and i saw a built rb25 come up for sale, with tomei 264 cams, valves and what not had been done in top end. New MLS headgasket and studs and had only done 2 track days and made 300kw. went and saw it running, was mint. so i bought it.

pulling the 25 block out, and new motor in background with my bolt ons
IMG_0769_zps3af4595c.jpg
IMG_0768_zpsd90fd526.jpg

and heres the 25 with my garret 3076r on a 6boost manifold.
IMG_0767_zps8a068e48.jpg

Ive now decided im going to paint the car and bay and tidy it all up, Bay will be pink and car will be black. Got alot of shit to do, but slowly getting there!

pick up my new daily, sold the s13 and f**king done with sr's oh my god dont get me started. buying a r31 will pig it for a daily.

well this has been a few months, ill try to remember.

basically, not long after the last update, we had a month to vacate the current house so i moved and had an old style garage now, so i can leave as many marks, stains etc on the floor, so took a photo no long after

1604388_724353730918049_1330560944190715

then it was a garage ornament for a while, as i bought a new daily to mess around with and make money off. a dirty31 was a mission to get as me and my mate jack was told it was in lismore, we live north brisbane, so we left brisbane at around 6:30 got to lismore like 9:30 then he says its at " dunes " 30 min inland, like all rural, anwyay get there, and buy it for 1900. had s13 conversion, camber top coilovers, locker, manual, hydro, centreline 14x7-11, exhuast etc had a few minor issues. we missioned home, ran out of fuel at the border, both our phones died, trying to find a petrol station in nsw is f**ked, like they cant make signs properly, anyway found petrol. Then temp gauge was reading 100+ degrees, pulled over checked it all out didnt seem hot, anyway didnt get home till 3:30am had to be up @ 5am for work, wasnt fun.

10613787_786129691407119_356137002_n_zps

had it for a few months, fixed most of the shit wrong with it, put some nemotos on it, slammed it, wet weather warrioring everywhere, then this happened..... caught me skidding out of an off ramp, got done for defects and " not incontrol of vechile " woo!

10592281_786129684740453_482953995_n_zps

then sold it for 3500, so good profit!

anyway now daily a n15 pulsar... :))))))

back to laurel....

bought bulk parts

10609253_786128361407252_1729501846_n_zp

10602882_786126998074055_1574865347_n_zp

in this time had sent my rack away to get moved forward 25mm, then put lock spacers in

10592283_786126994740722_2001170524_n_zp

had a thought, figured theres nothing else fake on this car, so bought genuine defis ( boost, oil press, oil temp and control box )

10592206_786127014740720_2080270350_n_zp

    • The average previous owner for these cars were basically S-chassis owners in the US. Teenagers or teenager-adjacent. I often tell people that neglect is easier to fix than something that was actively "repaired" by previous owners.
    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
