Albus
Do you think it is worth to strip your whole car down to a shell and sandblast the whole thing. Greekos
unless it pre 80's car you wont me able to blast most of the panels. subframes and like go to town on them it less effort and cheaper to have items like that blasted Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/426400-sandblasting/#findComment-6877735 Share on other sites
Albus
Well it's a r34 so it isn't worth being blasted? #@Greekos Edited June 4, 2013 by Qorx Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/426400-sandblasting/#findComment-6877739 Share on other sites
StevenCJR31
is it that bad it needs to be blasted? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/426400-sandblasting/#findComment-6878001 Share on other sites
Daleo
Soda blasting is much more gentle on panels than conventional "sand"blasting. I've even heard of a form of media blasting that uses crushed walnut shells. They reckon they can strip individual layers of paint, and even leave body filler intact. They also claim that they can strip areas without having to completely disassemble a car.The advantage with soda blasting, is that the residue can be washed out as it dissolves. http://advancedsodablasting.com/?gclid=CNWBlpibyrcCFUdfpgod7F8AAw Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/426400-sandblasting/#findComment-6878010 Share on other sites
Albus
Awesome. My original thought would be to remove everything. Just leaving the shell and blast the whole shell and all panels and stuff and re-priming and painting and getting all holes, dints everything back to 100% normal. How much do you think the avg price would be for a mechanic to strip a whole car down to bar bones just the shell? Daleo
I'd talk to the panel shop you are using for paint; if you're going to this much trouble, I expect you'd be investing some serious dough in a respray. StevenCJR31
^^^ exactly! make sure you are sitting down when you start calculating what a total strip down/ blast/respray/ reassemble is going to cost you Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/426400-sandblasting/#findComment-6878513 Share on other sites
