Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has had brake switch as an error code come out of their V35 350GT-8 before.

The transmission service has been fully completed and computer reset but she is still not changing gears and we are getting brake switch error coming out of the tranny.

Have been corresponding with CVT NZ and Nuwan but we are all at a bit of a loss now.

Cheers

Erggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sorry to tell you champ, but once you have a problem with the GT8 trans that is it - you will fix one, develop a new error, fix the next, develop a new one etc etc etc ...... go read all the threads and nightmare stories .... most end up getting parted out ... didn't I warn you on here before you bought the car?

Unfortunately I had already bought the car.

The general consensus from all who know a thing or two about them is our issue isn't the transmission. Appears we have a wiring issue with communication going to the transmission. So looks like the transmission isnt the bad guy this time.

Check that the ecu is getting it's brake signal to the engine ecu, pin 101 I think. That would throw an engine light though. I don't think there is a direct brake signal to the gearbox but I haven't played with the cvt's at all yet.

If it is in the box you will need to get it on a consult 3 unit for diagnosis. What unit did you use to read the error? Do you have the code number?

The mechanic used consult 2, I have just asked if we can get a consult 3 to hook up to it.

In the G35 manual it appears that the brake switch is apart of the vehicle stability system and the switch most would classify as the brake switch is in fact called the vehicle stop light switch. So we are seeing what we can find in relation to the wiring for this ASCD Brake Switch to see if it could be this.

Hopefully the consult 3 gives us some more information.
