Recommended Posts

So...Motion to create said position would need to be raised and then a 2nd would be needed, Motion would pass...Nomination would be made and tada...Nick would be the offical SAU QLD troll (accept no substitute)

So, just got a lovely email from Phil at Shannons:

1. 1 x Block mounted Nissan R32 race poster signed by Jim Richards, Fred Gibson & Allan Heaphy.

2. 1 x Same poster not mounted and Signed by Jim Richards.

3. 6 x Signed Jim Richards Falcon Sprint Posters

Anyone who gets a quote on the night will go into a draw to win the posters. we will draw 1 & 2 first then the 6 others ...presuming of course we will have 8 Quotes !

Plus we have some Footage from the last meeting at lakeside Classic. I had my Go pro in Jim’s R31 Nissan Skyline during Qualifying and a race , so I will play that on the big screen. Plus a bit of a chat about the Shannons Club and the Current national Shannons National quote competition.

I suggest we could do a sausage sizzle on the BBQ. let me know if you want to do that. Some clubs just get PiZZA delivered. How many people are coming ?

excellent. I need insurance for the ant-eater so I will request for a quote tomorrow

Why won't they cover you? I'll ask Phil tomorrow.

I'm suspecting that will have to probably do with having a suspended or cancelled licenses within the last three years

Won't cover me because under 25 it's actuslly in their policy will happily supply and take your money but if you crash they won't cover it. Haven't had a suspended or cancelled licence was on good behaviour so never actually lost licence.

I've got the same issue. Under 25. I'll have a chat with them and find out more.

Also, I've taken what you've said under advisement and can actually build from a lot of that. Would be good to get some of those points in there and I'll amend the agenda to incorporate it.

I'm certain that they (Shannons) can come to an arrangement.......just needs to be a a sensible one.

That's really pleasing to hear mate re: agenda.

    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
    • Just one thing; tapping tapered threads is tricky. Taps are always tapered and you would generally run it as far as you can, but with a tapered thread you have to stop much sooner otherwise the wide part of the taper will run in too far and you will have to thread the sensor in too far too as well (possible that it will never make a good seal) BTW nice wide wheels, I guess the top one is for the back!
    • Welp, good to know. Will have to wait awhile until steady hands with drills and taps are available. In other news, these just arrived! I will weigh them for posterity. Edit: 11kg each (or 10.9/11.1 depending on what my scale decides over multiple tests, the 18x11 don't seem to weigh noticeably any more than 10.5)
