Hey everyone, been troubleshooting some issues with my zed recently (I know this is a skyline forum but more of you would have experience with the e-boost 2 than on the zed forum). I took the car to a dyno day last Saturday and was pretty surprised when it only made 286.7 rwkw, it was running lean, but it was dropping off boost and making the 286kw at 12 psi.

I looked at the dyno sheet and realised that boost was spiking to 24 psi on the initial ramp up at about 4,200 rpm and then dropping back to 12 psi where it continued to climb and make it's peak power, although a lot less aggressively.

Now I've been told (by one person) that without factory safety boost solenoids, the car will not go back down to gate pressure even if the e-boost 2 recognises a level of boost higher than the preset safety cut.

My E-boost 2 has the safety cut set to 22 or 23 psi, as soon as the boost spikes to 24 it drops instantly to 12. I think it's the e-boost doing it's job, but as I said, I've been told this won't happen without the safety boost solenoids in place. I don't really believe this, but curious as to what you guys think.

It's booked in next Thursday for a tune, so I need to sort something out if the e-boost has shit itself, or if it's normal (which I think it is, since boost is spiking higher than the safety cut off is set).

I also have another drama, the screen on the e-boost itself flickers. I think it might be a bit dodgy, any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I had this with my EBoost 1, my car comes on boost so fast the EBoost couldn't catch it and would just put it into safety mode dropping it to waste gate pressure

Drop the EBoost and get a good jap one, I use the HKS EVCs 4 and 5 without issues, I know others use different ones but any of the good name Japanese one will do the job

I'm guessing you need stronger wastegate actuators, not a boost controller yet. Get the boost sorted first, then think about bumping it up while on the dyno.

The turbos are GT28RS's and the setup has pulled 340rwkw in the past, the car was built just over 2 and a half years ago, I doubt they've gone bad already.

Thanks mate, appreciate it.

12 psi actuators are definitely on the weak side, if thats what they once were. No amount of controlling will make them run 20+ right through the revs. Perhaps they have softened or need more preload?

Too many people rely on the controller to do all the work imo. The actuator spring is the most important part and needs to be matched to the boost you want to run, and the pressure in the manifold. Much cheaper than trying another controller too.

    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
