now the day has come for me to choose my GT-R  ...

i have the money and all but im stuck on what to buy since some cars are moded and some arnt for the same price but this is where the ODO and Images of condition come into play :)

Which car would you choose ?

The Gunmetal grey one from the auctions ( 2 images .rar ) has :

Skyline GT-R modified

Gunmetal

139,529km

Manual

17" Aftermarket wheels

CD player

PowerFC

Aftermarket airfilter

ORC Twin plate clutch

HKS EVC3 Boost controller

Exhaust

Aftermarket suspension

Condition note: Thumb sized dents on the front near side guard, on the passenger's door, on the quarter panel and the driver's door. Paint in good condition with light scratches. The car starts easily, drives well and goes hard. All the basic mods has been done for you to enjoy this ultimate machine.

$18500 Landed.

THE OTHER GUNMETAL GREY ONE :) :) :) :) : THIS IS WHAT I AM THINKING OF BUYING :) ....

HAS :

Skyline R32 GT-R

Gunmetal

64k

Manual

Aftermarket Exhaust

Otherwise stock

Condition note: my supplier have reported the car starts easily, drives fine without any noise and goes as it should. Good condition for its age with a perfectly straight body. Good paint condition and the tyres have 60% treads or thereabouts.

$17500 Landed

what do you think about the ODO ?

the white one is nice too :

R32 Skyline GT-R

White

Manual

121,000km

Completely stock

Condition note: the car is completely straight with no dents, paint in excellent condition and same goes for the interior. The engine doesn't blow smoke and the car drives fine. This is probably the better GT-R's I've come across lately. It may include service history.

$17500 Landed.

when you compare the interior/paint to the gunmetal grey one , the gunmetal grey one is what i like thats 17500 landed. and its a nice package. the white one seems to have lowerd suspension from the ride height shown.

also how much are N1 Bumpers ? and those aftermarket wheels from the auction car because i want those wheels and bar on my next car :)

Thanks

If it was me I'd go the white one coz i think 32's look great in white!

Although I do believe that you should go the 2nd or 3rd one as they are practically stock.

You wont have any probs trying to register it and you will have the full doing it up to suit your needs. There is also less chance of wear on the entire car.

take it easy

Mark

I assume that these are all 15 year old cars...

In which case, you might want to think whether 64,000kms in 15 years is really accurate.

Believe it or not, the Japanese drive their cars just as much as we do (8-12,000kms/year)... They pay so much for the priviledge of owning a car, believe me, they drive the bastards.

It is totally clean the 64k one and it shows its km's..price doesnt always judge things dude.

this is just to show how awsome the car with 64,000km's is... and i have chosen to get this since the condition is about nearly 2 times as good as the white one. and 3 times as good as the other gunmetal one.

I think the photographer needs to take better quality pics before you could really comment on the condition of the car.

I've been keeping a close eye on the R32 GTR cars on the Prestige list and their are plenty of cars that look awesome in the pics but have accident history, panel damage etc.

how can u tell from those photos? They both look the same.

and u ask for people opinions, dont have a go at sock cuz he isnt 104

i am not sooking, mate maybe if you read the details youd shutit... im asking for advice not stupid opinions from kids who havnt even driven a car.

I have driven a car, and you asked for an opinion and i gave you one, i am not 11, i gave you my opinion as you asked for the opinion of anyone who is looking at the thread, so either shut up or don't ask a question at all, i can give my opinion if i want to, its called democracy. :bs!: If you don't like what i said, ignore it, i didn't make you read what i said.

what do you guys think of this wonderful car ?

what do you think about the ODO ?

As you see you asked, and i answered, if you didn't want peoples opinions just shut up...

looks like you've already made up your mind what you want hehe

if i were you, i'd ask the agent that you're goin thru, or the importers agent in japan, whoever took those pics... to take a pic... under the rear wheel arch, of the driver's side seat, of the main car jack point under th car on the front and rear axle

oh and also make inquiries about the number written on the engine for the timing belt replacement date and km its done since. ask him to scour the engine bay for dates (in japanese so they'd read hesei 10 or something and then a month number).

personally I think the gunmetal one has had a new odo put in or a wound back one. the pics my agent sends me are close to 4 mb each, i'm sure he can do better than j-phone pics.

its still cleaner than the white one, but there's shifty business underfoot.

NO-ONE sells a 64000km GTR for that cheap, and if they do, its stolen.

aat the end of the sday they're all 15 years old and you get what you pay for.

    • perhaps i should have mentioned, I plugged the unit in before i handed over to the electronics repair shop to see what damaged had been caused and the unit worked (ac controls, rear demister etc) bar the lights behind the lcd. i would assume that the diode was only to control lighting and didnt harm anything else i got the unit back from the electronics repair shop and all is well (to a point). The lights are back on and ac controls are working. im still paranoid as i beleive the repairer just put in any zener diode he could find and admitted asking chatgpt if its compatible   i do however have another issue... sometimes when i turn the ignition on, the climate control unit now goes through a diagnostics procedure which normally occurs when you disconnect and reconnect but this may be due to the below   to top everything off, and feel free to shoot me as im just about to do it myself anyway, while i was checking the newly repaired board by plugging in the climate control unit bare without the housing, i believe i may have shorted it on the headunit surround. Climate control unit still works but now the keyless entry doesnt work along with the dome light not turning on when you open the door. to add to this tricky situation, when you start the car and remove the key ( i have a turbo timer so car remains on) the keyless entry works. the dome light also works when you switch to the on position. fuses were checked and all ok ive deduced that the short somehow has messed with the smart entry control module as that is what controls the keyless entry and dome light on door opening   you guys wouldnt happen to have any experience with that topic lmao... im only laughing as its all i can do right now my self diagnosed adhd always gets me in a situation as i have no patience and want to get everything done in shortest amount of time as possible often ignoring crucial steps such as disconnecting battery when stuffing around with electronics or even placing a simple rag over the metallic headunit surround when placing a live pcb board on top of it   FML
    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
