There was something there yes - but not 1.2 mm more like 3-4mm - to line up with the original -4 fitting (in the pic)

I know white smoke could be lots of things - but I am troubleshooting from least cost to me forward.

WRT to your comment re HKS turbos being different for different applications - do you mean that I could have an HKS 3040 that was meant for a RB26 or a 1J or a rotor ?? How different can they be ??

Can you tell me someone I can take the car to that will give me a definite answer ? I will pay them - I've talked to lots of people about this and each gives me a different answer.

Cheers,

I see, I see... 4mm doesn't sound like a very useful restrictor to have, I understand why you're considering a smaller one.

Understood about cheapest solutions first troubleshooting :D

I have no idea what the differences are between the different releases, but I know the GT2530 for the RB25 is VERY different to the GT2530 for the RB26... I was just saying that to illustrate the point that if HKS were to goto the trouble of releasing different turbos for different engine applications, perhaps Sydneykid's theory of "one turbo to suit all applications" doesn't apply to HKS's range? dunno.gif Perhaps if HKS were to goto the trouble of releasing different turbos for different engine applications, their turbos might have restricted oil lines to suit each engine application? dunno.gif

Also another thing to consider, is... as far as I know, the N1 oil pump isn't a higher volume oil pump, as compared to a standard GTR oil pump (not sure about the GTS-t standard oil pump). All it is, is a higher pressure pump, but standard flow rates.... So if what I've researched is correct, you shouldn't have any extreme oil flow increases that might warrant restricting oil to the turbo any further? dunno.gif

I'm just throwing ideas around, none of the points I have brought up are concrete, they're just adding food for thought :D

The CHRA are the same, it's the housings/flanges that are different between the RB26/RB25/SR20 applications in the 25xx + GT-SS/RS range.

I thought the GT2530 for RB25 had that machined aluminium snout on the intake side?

Hate to state the obvious, byt have you thought about talking to Paul at BD4s, they are the HKS distributer, and build plenty of quick cars...only most of their clients dont typically advertise their power etc etc, but they have amongst others an MR2 running a 3240, an EVO IV running a 3037 etc etc, so have played with plenty of the GT30 based HKS range.

I was looking at the compressor cover a while ago and i could have sworn it had 3240 on it....i pissed myself laughing and all of a sudden the nitrous bottle made more sense....though the gas wasnt connected, dont know if it is now as i last looked at it before Xmas

Yeah - it might be obvious Roy - but since I didn't buy anything from BD4's , I didn't think it was appropriate to go asking them questions about stuff - I guess that is the way I am.

Business is Business....

However, if someone is friendly with BD4's and they are happy to help a poor unsuspecting customer - I'll take that :)

You know what I mean , yeah ??

when i bought my new gt28 440hp i asked specifically when they made the braided oil feed if i needed a restrictor and both the guys at the shop said no in these sort of turbos (meaning garrett gt series i presume??) they have an inbuilt restrictor so suit the application.... but also on the other hand SK's comment about the varying oil pressures in different engines has me thinking.......though mine has been on the car for about 3000km without the slightest puff of smoke or problem with just a braided open line from the factory oil feed in the block to the turbo.......

    • I used to have Walbro 255's when they were a pretty common update. (or were they 044? 040?) In any case I had a dirty tank. I thought the tank was good, but I would find the filter would clog in maybe ~50km of driving. If the issue persists, well, your fuel system or tank has crap in it that the pump is sucking up.
    • Hi. Ok thanks for the info. I/we do not know what tune is on that Nistune ECU so it is why there is stock ECU and that Nistune is for later when the car is done. I have guy who tunes Nistune and other ECU so i will then take it to him to see and properly tune for the car   And for the update. On 99,9% it is bad fuel pump. Which is wierd cuz it is like 2 years old(brand new walbro 255) and that filter (also brand new) was dirty.  I was alwaya pumped premium(100) on very good petrol station so i dont know how is that possible...
    • Dear folks My family members have 4 different cars : Triton 2015 and Corolla 2011 and Mazda3 2012 and Hyundai Elantra 2014 Looking to buy engine oil funnel spill free What I found are are below  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BBTTJNKX?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image&th=1 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145553221359?srsltid=AfmBOoqYBU6Ptw0LU_bAp_k67U3qkF97HHvePkA7iHZw8vUmiwoIRaRr https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X23TCS5?th=1 Is there a funnel with attachment that fits most cars ? Don't mind to spend for a decent quality  Thx
    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
