hey guys i thought this thread might be a good idea for some of us to post in.

basically i thought it would help if we put up places where we have seen speed cameras that we may not expect them or we rarely see them, so we can be carefull around certain areas we may have thought we'd be ok to have a blast in.

(note not speeding would be the best bet, but for most of us with the cars we have, the temptation is to great)

i guess i'll start, on drakeford drive heading out towards issabella plains i got busted by a cop car hiding in the bushes with a radar gun, i was doing about 150k in my lancer last yr and all of a sudden i saw them, i jammed on the brakes but only slowed down to 125 b4 they saw me, so they were well hidden as i only slowed down 25k with the brakes jammed on. they chased me down and kicked my ass heavily.

also there has been a speed van once or twice on the turn onto namatjira from hindmarsh dr. its a very random spot but if u hammer through the corner then u'll be almost certainly done.

feel free to add guys, i hope those 2 helped.

Yeah mate, good plan. I've recently moved back to my olds after breaking up with my girl, and have seen a speed van at the bottom of Kerrigan street in Fraser/Charnwood just before it goes into Dunlop (near Shakespeare Cres entrance) almost every morning on the way to work. You can really hammer down that street. Before the chicanes got put in, used to be able to get airborne!!

they park them on maribyrnong ave in kaleen a lot down near one of the primary schools. i've been caught by it once by surprise, i was only going 69 in a 60.

but at night i see them always parked behind signs on the side of the road trying to look inconspicuous. isn't there a law or something that says they have to be visable to a certain extent? hiding behind signs or in bushes is hardly visable

well, if any of u live in the Kambah area, be careful on Livingston Avenue (the one that goes past the Kambah Pizza/Takeaway place)....

I go that way cos it's quicker than Athlon when there's lot's of traffic, and it joins Sulwood at the top...but the white van has been there a few times :P

Coming home from the city, I was going down the Parkway, I hit the straight stretch from just past the zoo to the Curtin turn-off, and just past that turnoff in the bush was the gold/purple ford cop car. He has perfect veiw of over a kilometre of straight road. That twice now he has been there at bout 11pm onward on a weeknight.

Luckily I was in my daily driver, [suzuki sierra] and was just cruising on the limit, becuase you dont notice him until your smack infront of him, even with your highbeams on, with the angle of the incline its difficult.

If you're taking the backroad that goes between Lyons & Weston, it's probably not a wise action to come flying up the hill (coming towards Weston)....more often than not, just as I come over the crest of the hill there's a camera van sitting right under the parkway overpass.

that's some good info, i regularly drive north on the parkway to belco at that time, i'll make sure i'm right on 100 as i come to the underpass. sometimes down the hill it sneaks up to 110 - 120 without me noticing

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
