Manual, Turbo 180SX 162KW

Usual story, bought as a project car and I have run out of time, money and enthusiasm.

The plan was to build this up for track/hill climbs/etc. but I just don't have the time or money to finish it off.
Some mods have been done by myself, others were done by the previous owner.
The motor made 162kW on 14PSI and will make a lot more with cams + more boost.

Modifications:
Garret T28
Tuned length/"Spaghetti" stainless steel exhaust manifold
Front mount intercooler + piping
RB25 AFM
Power FC + hand controller
Random Dump/Front pipe
Xforce Cat Back
430CC injectors, EVO or GTR not sure
Bigger Fuel pump, possibly out of a GTR
R32 GTR radiator + twin thermo fans
Evo MR/metal bov

Lowered Springs all round, was told they are Tein
Nismo suspension arms in the rear end
Adjustable rear struts
Five stud conversion
S15 front brakes
Heaps of front lock - no idea what was done, setup for drifting.
GTR LSD - again not sure what the story is, maybe R32 rear cradle
17x8 Super Advans - decent tyres
Front strut brace

Fibre glass vented bonnet - rattle can black with lockable bonnet clips
Carbon fibre look head light covers
S15 drivers seat
Momo steering wheel
Gauge pod + Boost, Oil temp/pressure - probably work but not hooked up.
USDM? gauge cluster has MPH and KPH and is white. I have a standard one that can go with the car.

I'm told that the bottom end is forged, no idea when, who by or what went in it. The guy that tuned the car for me agrees that it probably is.
I have cams. cam gears and valve springs that I will throw in for the right price.
The body is a bit rough but as it was going to be a track car I really didn't give a shit.
NSW rego ran out last month. Overall it just needs a tidy up + a few little bits and you'll have a fun little 180.

Looking for about $5000 ono

Car is located in Canberra

PM me on here and I'll send you my phone number to discuss the car

Would like to point out that this car does run reliably, I used it to commute 550km round trip fortnightly for about 6 months.

I even got pulled over by the HP and NOT defected in that time.

    • Just as a thought, if it's in neutral, thats your drive line disconnect, not the clutch. Clutch slip at the dyno with pedal fully out, is actually adding a second disconnect. So it's not a clutch issue if you're in neutral. Just a bit of friction dragging the output around while in the air.
    • The HG high flow is excellent, and costs about the $$ you're talking about. But it, and probably every other highflow, uses a diffeent core than the original turo, and the original Hitatchi core is quite long. So, I think it is inevitable that there is likely no such thing as a highflow that just "bolts on" with no other effort required. And the same is likely true for HG's outright replacement "bolt on" turbos (the ATR things). And the same is likely true for anything similar from elsewhere. I have no idea if the cheap Chinese/Taiwanese complete turbos from eBay/Temu/etc are as bolt on as they claim. I mean, they claim the bolt onto the NAs as well as the turbos, and we know that can't be "bolt on". But it wouldn't matter because I'm not buying a $169 4 psi turbo for anything other than a paddock basher.
    • Bummer...yeah i "need" something to "ease" up the work and for my driving it would be enough.    Iam counting the tune "without" turbo. I do not mean "cheap" like something from Temu around 200 USD, "Cheap" is something around 1000 USD?
    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
