Car was tuned by no other than DVS JEZ who managed to pull 307kws on about 18psi outta her

When I first bought the car I was a little concerned about running this sorta power on a daily but my mate I bought it off had been doing so for over half a year with no problems at all and I trust him and I trust Jez's tune.

But fuuuuuk she was a beast to drive.

So when I first picked her up the speedo didn't work due to the 25 box in it so I went ahead and ordered myself a new navara speedo drive from my parts guy at work, went and bought a little blow torch from bunnings and within the week , voila speedo!

Brought it into my workshop a few weeks after owning it and did a full service on it pretty much, tried out a 15/50 nulon fully synthetic, genuine nissan filters, gearbox and diff oil. About a month later I assumed the 25 in her would be pretty much on 100k, so apart she goes, new timing belt, tensioner and idler in, new coolant and she was swell. Should have taken more pictures.

But I blacked everything whilst it was apart

Then one day it started smoking when it came on boost, like bad.. filling the cabin suffocating smoke bad.. I checked the oil and coolant levels and the oil smelled like burnt dick so I figured I'd change it and try another oil to see if it made a difference. Sort of toned it down a little, sort of. But then I took it out for a drive that night, hit boost going up a hill in 3rd, started sounding like a harley, spat the dip stick, spat oil everywhere, game over hahaha.

So currently in the process of sourcing a new 25 to go in it as I just want a quick and easy fix cause I want it back on the road ASAP and dont have time to mess around building it and shit, I am just that stubborn.

Got a box of presents the other day, just building up the things I'll need when this I pick this new engine up.

Just got a genuine oil filter, spark plugs and a new nismo reinforced clutch brake, as mine is held in place with rivets and is bent sideways which pulls the speedo cable out of the cluster if you aren't careful, which is annoying. Looks to be a really back breaking job that I dont really look forward to.

    • The price isn't the issue, it's how hard my fuel pump is to remove now. I fabricated a custom bracket so my pump sits on the very bottom of the tank (I ran the tank down to 5L remaining to test it, works well). But it is a fkn NIGHTMARE to get the pump down into the tank now =/ words can't describe how much I hate fighting with the fuel pump/hanger now. The other issue is reliability, I'm driving down for WTA in a couple of months, I'd be less then impressed if I was half way to Sydney from Brisbane and my pump fails again =/ The other issue I had was my car battery was slowly failing, with low battery voltage my fuel pump couldn't keep up with what the reg was asking from it. I've replaced the battery and my fuel pressure is back to being perfect.  As for the low voltage situation that killed my previous battery, I've got a 150amp alternator sitting on my desk waiting to go in. Fingers crossed that will sort that issue.
    • OK so I just bidded $500 on an R33 GTS4 that no one seems to want. Waiting on a call from the agent to see if I won. 32 GTS4 is for sale. I can't deal with the temptation to mod it.
    • Might be there for work later in the year. Wouldn't mind catching up with you fellas - can't have too many beers, but will consume copious amounts of takoyaki while executing an asian squat on the side of the road while you blokes sort out your hangovers.
    • I know one example is a anecdote not data, but I'm running the same Aeroflow 525 at full voltage through a regular relay, and while I've had other fuel problems including melting the factory fuel hat, the pump itself has been fine for years. Of course, they aren't *that* expensive these days, you could swap in a new one and see if the issue is resolve. I think you had a previous thread about fuel problems, have you been monitoring and logging fuel pressure? Is there anything voltage related (for example does the voltage go up when the pressure goes down)
