Hey guys

I've purchased a S15 shell with a SR20DET that hasn't been started in a few months, and has been sitting outside as well.

Any tips or words of advice before I try to turn it over?

Mods, apologies if this is in the wrong section, please move to the appropriate section!

Cheers

Oil change, pull the plugs out, pull fuel pump fuse so injectors don't fire and turn the engine over untill you get oil pressure. put plugs and fuse back in and start it.

The oil will be fine as long as it still looks like oil- no water contamination, it's not black tar, etc.

It is better to change it hot so you get more of it out. So warm it once, then change it and the oil filter.

Other than that, exactly what was said. Have a good condition battery, Disable fuel, and turn the motor over to build oil pressure before starting.

As long as its all plumbed in (no chance of water getting into the intake/exhaust) it will be fine.

If concerned, turn it over by hand first, before you strike the starter.

    • Saw this abandoned Honda Fit in a carpark that was getting repaved... they just 'cut around it' and continued with the job! There's a number of reasons why the car could have been abandoned, but as for the construction company, legally they don't have permission to move the car from the owner (who has moved on and can't be contacted) so all they can do it just leave it there with enough space around it so it won't get damaged.
